This piano piece is dedicated to all people that need to leave. Their homes, their loved ones, their lifes that they had so far. Because they see no future, because some regime presses them to go to war, because they have broken with their loved ones. All the best to you and may you find a new home!

Compositionwise: The piece is structured into 4 parts (starting @0:02, @0:45, @1:38 and @2:44). Each of the parts starts with a question-like motive built around Ninths. As with most of my pieces, I investigate applied perturbation theory also in this track by starting these 4 parts almost – but only almost – with the same notes and exploring, how initially tiny tweaks in the beginning of the parts evolve over time into distinctly different melodies, harmonics and moods.
Overall, the piece constantly oscillates between melancholic minor and consoling major harmonies and periods of relative calm interrupted by more restless forward driving parts. The transitions between the parts are made more seamless by ritardandos and by question-answer pairs such as e.g, @ 1:28 or @ 2:33. Most of the accompaignment in the left hand is in Vienna classic-like triad decompositions but for the climax of the track starting @ 2:02, the left hand switches to rock-piano-like octave jumps to increase the sense of emotional agitation. The track starts in A major and ends in Eb major which is said to be a warm and melancholic tonality. Tthe two keys are opposite each other (6 jumps away), so I guess, this is the maximum range of modulation possible to emphasize the sense of distance and leaving.

Leaving (Solo Piano)

A fairly uninhibited venture into traditional tonal Melodic-Harmonic territory in which the object of the exercise was to please the senses with completely recognisable tonal stimuli, this track is a reworking of f,,,Mmm,m,mmmm a piece I composed originally in 2019. In the current revision I could not resist the impulse to make several 'daring' modulations which may place more of a burden on the listener than was my original intention

Death is the enemy

A power ballad about death and decay. Interpreting inevitable changes, loss and departure into John's skillful lyrics, the vocal melody conveys a deep sadness. I composed and played the song on piano and guitar both. It's hard to believe that a random collaboration paired John and me together. Later, Dirk joined as a vocalist and added plenty of drama. Thank you so much, it's always fun to collaborate with you!

This is a song that originated with Ken several months ago. He wrote the whole thing on piano, guitar, and drums and presented it to the rest of the band. Of course, everyone was very excited to add their spin to it. I added my bass part first, as the foundation. Ken also left his catchy original guitar intro as it was. Then JJ added his dynamic piano part, which ended up being both foundational and stylistic, along with the sax that you hear in there, too. Stephen added his solid foundational guitar to it, too, soon after. Then it sat, stalled out for need of some vocals. Of course, we asked TMD to add some, which he did in grand fashion for the choruses. All that was left were the verses. Ken wrote lyrics, and gave me an idea for the melody, so I sang the verses to wrap it up. Of course, we asked Stephen to produce and mix it for us, which he did so well, as always.
