The Chestnut-eared Araçari (Pteroglossus castanotis), is a bird native to central and south-eastern South America. It belongs to the toucan and aracari family (Ramphastidae). P. castanotis is a larger, more colorful bird than the Black-necked Aracari (P. aracari), which it otherwise resembles.
The range of the Chestnut-eared Aracari is the southern Amazon Basin, especially the southwestern of this region. It is also found in the eastern Andean foothills; a narrowing range extension enters central-southern Colombia by 900 kilometres (560 mi).
The southern Amazon Basin range narrows in the southeast to only the upstream half-headwaters of the north-flowing Amazon River tributaries. This range continues southeastwards into the central and southern cerrado and ends in the Paraná River region in eastern Paraguay, southeastern Brazil and the extreme northeast of Argentina.

El tucanillo, carrasco, pichí bandirrojo, arasarí castaño, arasarí fajado o tucaneta parda (Pteroglossus castanotis) es un ave de la familia Ramphastidae, que habita en los bosques húmedos de Sudamérica, desde Colombia hasta el norte de Argentina, en altitudes inferiores a los 900 msnm.
Mide 37 a 47 cm de longitud incluidos 10 cm del pico y pesa 220 a 310 g. El plumaje es negro de la corona hasta la nuca y a los lados de la cabeza; la parte baja de la nuca y la parte alta de la garganta son castaños. La parte baja de la garganta es negra y el pecho amarillo. Tiene una banda pectoral roja. Los lados de la cabeza son de color marrón oscuro. Piel azul alrededor del ojo.
Vive en grupos de hasta 12 individuos que vuelan en fila. Se alimenta de frutos, artrópodos y huevos.

The Festive Amazon (Amazona festiva), also known as the Festive Parrot, is a species of parrot in the Psittacidae family. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Venezuela. It is associated with forest (especially Várzea) and woodland growing near major rivers. Locally it is also found in coastal mangroves (primarily in Amapá). There are two subspecies; A. f. festiva and A. f. bodini.
The subspecies bodini has more red to the forecrown and more blue to the face than the nominate. In flight, both subspecies show deep blue outer wings (outer webs of the primaries and the primary coverts) and a red rump, but the latter is reduced in juveniles.

The Orange-breasted Falcon (Falco deiroleucus) is a bird of the falcon family. It is probably closely related to and looks like a larger version of the Bat Falcon. These two, in turn, are probably closest to the Aplomado Falcon and constitute a rather old American lineage of Falcos.
It is found from southern Mexico to northern Argentina. It's a medium-sized falcon at 35–40 cm (14–16 in) long and a weight of 325–700 grams (11.5 oz.-1.5 lbs). It is a bird predator, with strong talons that enable it to catch prey in flight, and is considered by some – as the German-Brazilian ornithologist Helmut Sick – as filling the ecological niche of the Peregrine Falcon as a breeding species in tropical America. The Orange-breasted Falcon, however, seems to favor more heavily wooded habitats than the Peregrine, therefore the species does not seem to be in ecological competition with Peregrine Falcons wintering or breeding in South America. The Orange-breasted Falcon has a similar plumage to the much smaller Bat Falcon and is generally considered most closely related to that species now.

El halcón pechirrojo o halcón negro grande (Falco deiroleucus) es una especie de ave falconiforme de la familia Falconidae propia del sur al norte de Sudamérica. No se conocen subespecies.
Es de mediano tamaño (longitud promedio 35 cm). Es un predador, con fuertes talones que sirven para agarrar presas en vuelo, y se considera por algunos (como el ornitólogo germano brasileño Helmut Sick) que ocupa el nicho ecológico del Falco peregrinus (halcón peregrino), en la América Tropical. Suele encontrarse en hábitats más forestales que el peregrino, así que no entra en competencia ecológica con el peregrino migrador que inverna en Sudamérica.

The Spectacled Owl, Pulsatrix perspicillata, can range from 43 to 52 cm (17 to 20 in) in length. Mass in males can range from 453 to 700 g (1.00 to 1.5 lb), where as females can weigh from 680 to 1,000 g (1.5 to 2.2 lb). It is unmistakable with brown upperparts, head and upper breast, white facial markings and whitish to yellowish-ochre underparts. The eyes are yellow and the beak is pale. The juvenile is even more distinctive than the adult, being completely white apart from a chocolate brown facial disc. Of the six subspecies, only the nominate and P. p. saturata are well described. P. p. saturata differs from the typical Spectacled Owl only in that it is black on the head and the back, with black barring on the sides.
The primary sound made by the Spectacled Owl consists of knocking or tapping sounds with a popping effect: PUP-pup-pup-pup-po or BOO Boo boo boo boo. Each progressive note becomes weaker but faster as the call continues. Females also make a hawk-like scream, ker-WHEEER, which has often been compared to a steam-whistle.

El Lechuzón de anteojos, (Pulsatrix perspicillata), Es un ave nocturno que se reposa en el denso follaje durante el día, y se torna activo al oscurecer. Caza de noche, siendo más activo en las noches de luna. Para cazar se posa inclinado hacia adelante sobre ramas desnudas a una altura intermedia en donde revisa a su alrededor, se lanza velozmente al suelo sobre su presa o realiza un veloz giro en el aire para atrapar su presa de la vegetación. Sus presas incluyen insectos, ranas arborícolas, aves, pequeños mamíferos y, en el bosque de manglares, cangrejos. Su reclamo más típico es una serie de ululaciones rápidas y agudas. El búho de anteojos o de antifaz se reproduce en cautiverio en los programas que tratan de salvar sus hábitats.

The male is in average 28 cm long and weighs about 104 g, with the female 23 cm long and weighing 60 g approximately. The Yellow-rumped Cacique is a slim bird, with a long tail, blue eyes, and a pale yellow pointed bill. It has mainly black plumage, apart from a bright yellow rump, tail base, lower belly and wing "epaulets". The female is duller black than the male, and the juvenile bird resembles the female, but has dark eyes and a brown bill base.
The song of the male Yellow-rumped Cacique is a brilliant mixture of fluting notes with cackles, wheezes and sometimes mimicry. There are also many varied calls, and an active colony can be heard from a considerable distance.

Great Tinamou are approximately 44 cm (17 in) long, 1.1 kg (2.4 lb) in weight and size and shape of a small turkey. It ranges from light to dark olive-green in color with a whitish throat and belly, flanks barred black, and undertail cinnamon. Crown and neck rufous, occipital crest and supercilium blackish. Its legs are blue-grey in color. All these features enable Great Tinamou to be well-camouflaged in the rainforest understory.
The Great Tinamou has a distinctive call, three short, tremulous, but powerful piping notes which can be heard in its rainforest habitat in the early evenings.

The Great Potoo is larger than a crow at 48–60 cm (19-24 inches) tall and 360-650 grams (12.7 oz-1.4 lb). Wingspan in these bird is typically around 70 to 80.4 cm (28 to 31.7 in), though larger specimens can attain 100 cm (39 in). Among standard measurements, the wing chord is 34.2 to 40 cm (13.5 to 16 in), the tail is 22 to 29.5 cm (8.7 to 11.6 in), the bill is 1.6 to 2.2 cm (0.63 to 0.87 in) and the tarsus is 2.6 to 3.7 cm (1.0 to 1.5 in). This potoo's size is distinctive when it is seen. It is pale greyish to brown, finely patterned with black and buff. It has large orange eyes. The overall appearance is pale and grayish. The underside is barred and vermiculated, including the buffy chest. The tail is barred with sharply defined black borders, while the head and back are mottled with gray and buff. Like most members of their order, the Great Potoo has plumage that is well-suited for camouflage.

El nictibio grande (Nyctibius grandis), también conocido como urutaú grande, es una especie de ave caprimulgiforme perteneciente a la familia Nyctibiidae, que vive en el neotrópico.

The Channel-billed is brightly marked and has a huge bill. It is typically 48 cm (19 in) long with a 9–14 cm (3½-5½ in) bill. It weighs 300-430 grams (10.6-15.2 oz.).
This species is an arboreal fruit-eater, but will take insects small reptiles, eggs, and frogs. The call is a croaking cree-op cree-op cree-op.
The parents are both active in raising the young. The white eggs are laid in a high unlined tree cavity. There is have a gestation period of 18 days, and the parents both incubate for 15 to 16 days.

The Crane Hawk (Geranospiza caerulescens) is a species of bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It is monotypic within the genus Geranospiza.[citation needed] It is found in Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and subtropical or tropical swamps.
The Crane Hawk has very long legs which it uses to extract prey from crevices in trees. It can pull tree frogs from inside bromeliads and nestlings from tree holes. As an example of convergent evolution, it is very similar to the African Harrier Hawk, Polyboroides typus.

El (Geranospiza caerulescens), es un ave rapaz de aproximadamente 46 cm de longitud, confiada, que salta entre las ramas de los árboles. Realiza vuelos cortos. Presenta una coloración gris celeste. Cola larga y angosta, negruzca barreada de canela y blanco. Ventralmente tiene un fino barreado blanco. Patas largas anaranjadas. En vuelo presenta una notable media luna blanca, base de las primarias color negro.

The Gray-headed Kite (Leptodon cayanensis) is a raptor found in open woodland and swamp forests. It shares the genus Leptodon with the extremely rare White-collared Kite. It breeds from eastern Mexico and Trinidad south to Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and northern Argentina.
The nest is made of sticks lined with grass and is built high in a tree. The clutch is one or two white eggs, purplish at one end and spotted brown.
The Gray-headed Kite is 46–53 cm in length and weighs 410-605 g. The adult has a grey head, black upperparts, white underparts, and a black tail with two or three white bars. The bill is blue and the legs grey. The flight is a deliberate flap-flap-glide.
Immature birds have two colour morphs; the light phase is similar to the adult, but has a white head and neck, with a black crown and eyestripe, black bill and yellow legs. The dark phase has a blackish head, neck and upperparts, and dark-streaked buff underparts.
The Gray-headed Kite feeds mainly on reptiles, but also takes frogs and large insects. It usually sits on an open high perch from which it swoops on its prey. The call is a mewling keow.

El (Leptodon cayanensis)  es un ave de rapiña que se encuentra en bosques abiertos y bosques pantanosos. Comparte el género Leptodon con el extremadamente raro Kite de cuello blanco . Se reproduce en el este de México y Trinidad al sur de Perú , Bolivia , Brasil y el norte de Argentina .
El nido está hecho de palos forrados con hierba y se construye alto de un árbol. La nidada consiste de uno o dos huevos de color blanco, púrpura en un extremo y manchado marrón.
El Kite Cano es 46-53 cm de largo y pesa 410 a 605 g. El adulto tiene la cabeza gris, dorso negro, vientre blanco y una cola negro con dos o tres barras blancas. El proyecto de ley es el azul y el gris piernas. El vuelo es una deliberada flap-flap-deslizamiento .
Las aves inmaduras tienen dos formas de color, la fase de la luz es similar a la del adulto, pero tiene una cabeza blanca y el cuello, con una corona de negro y eyestripe, pico negro y patas amarillas. La fase oscura tiene una cabeza negruzca, cuello y partes superiores y partes inferiores de color de ante negro con rayas.
El Kite Cano se alimenta principalmente de reptiles , pero también toma ranas y grandes insectos . Por lo general, se encuentra en una alta perca abierta de la que se abalanza sobre su presa. La llamada es un maullido Keow .
