This sad and devastating local story has been on my mind for a long time.... I'm reminded about this tragedy nearly everyday as I run along the Mississippi Blvd and see the memorial.

These solstice eyes 
have learned to disagree
with the varnish and dies
of vain pleasantry

The ugly devices of self-serving goons
casting their angst ridden bases
only to float their ego-balloons
have erased all the sky's visual graces.

This Solstice skin
has learned to shy away
from the deceptively Thin
pvc overlay.

this discount-priced vortex of dime-store illusion
raises hope from the ground at it's gust front
only to soil soils with futile pollution
as it scatters it's load in the minds of those stunned.

These Solstice ears
have learned to listen in
to the grumblings of fears
in the voice therein

Bared. in the open, prone to transform
Buds turn to flower when graced by the soft rain
fears provide courage to transcend the norm
letting go and becoming are one and the same.

My profound thanks to Jeff for this wonderful opportunity to collaborate. It truly was a labour of love, and it was also an Opportunity to take his amazing original song, put a girly spin on it, and create something with a more Cubano Spanish Rock Jazz feel to it, and to stretch my Piano Muscles! Jeff added his amazing Guitar and Bass skills, and a fusion was created! It's cheeky and light, even though the song is about parting ways!  We do hope it makes your toes tap and brings a smile to your souls.

History

When we first started writing songs together we thought we’d keep it simple but found the allure of a full band sound too tempting to ignore. This song, about the destructive patterns we get locked into, is us fulfilling that original intention - just acoustic guitar, violin and vocals. The riff that underpins the song could have gone another way….that’ll be the next release.
