It was mid-morning outside and Minli squinted in the sun. The wind still blew bitterly, but she didn’t even notice. Instead, Minli began to run toward the patch of yellow in the distance. Nada - Find Out (Original Mix)

Ir e Vir (Birdzzie Edit) marks the debut release of Postas de Pescada, a label dedicated to reimagining Portuguese folk through electronic reinterpretation.

Each release is curated by Mike Stellar, our head honcho, crate digger, and sonic archaeologist — digging through dust and poetry to unearth the songs that still pulse today.

The original track “Ir e Vir” was recorded by Grupo de Acção Cultural (G.A.C.) in the years following the 1974 Portuguese Revolution. Formed in the wake of the dictatorship's fall, G.A.C. was a collective of musicians, poets, and activists who gave voice to the hopes and struggles of a changing Portugal, blending traditional melodies with political urgency.

At the heart of “Ir e Vir” lies a stark portrayal of the life of Portuguese fishermen: waking before dawn, braving the sea, and returning with little more than exhaustion. The lyrics speak of labour without dignity, of bodies spent for profits that never reach them. In this edit, those words echo differently but no less urgently. 

Today, it’s often artists who navigate a similarly extractive system: streaming economies, unpaid gigs, exposure in place of income. Ir e Vir becomes not just a chronicle of past injustices, but a mirror for the present: a reminder that the rhythms of exploitation shift form, but rarely fade.

In this edit, Birdzzie, a portuguese producer known for ambient depth and hypnotic downtempo rhythms. slows the track to a reflective pace, bringing its message into a spacious, electronic landscape. This isn’t just an edit; it’s a respectful act of sampling tradition and transforming it for new ears and contexts.

This is his first offer-ing for Shango Records. These tracks can grow a beautiful forest in to the deep heart of the desert. Modular Windfall is a collection of live recorded tracks created using my eurorack modular synthesiser as an instrument. Each track is based on a unique patch created just for that piece, and I record everything live from start to finish to capture a one-off improvised production.

This was not pre-conceived or planned project but just brings together a windfall of music I created during a particularly productive 18 months during which I was submitting tracks to the monthly EscherMusicConnection event in Bristol - amazing local community of talented, up-and-coming electronic producers and artists showcasing their music and organised by the legendary Elevator Sounds team and I am dedicating this track to them. I hope you enjoy it.

“The Bear” transforms eerie minimalism into a brooding, heavyweight floor weapon. Built on a foundation of gritty, polyrhythmic percussion and broken bass stabs, the remix amplifies the tension with bone-rattling kicks, chopped vocal shadows, and dark FX stingers that lurch through the mix like a storm rolling through Durban at midnight. The spectral textures of the original are retained—but twisted—into a haunted sonic ritual, rooted in deep township rhythms and reinforced with industrial echoes. It’s aggressive, hypnotic, and unapologetically raw—perfect for low-ceiling warehouses and sweat-soaked dance circles.
