To participate:

- Make a song in response to the weekly assigned poem (a new poem is published every Wednesday)

- When choosing a title for your piece also include the assignment number, for example “Title of your track (naviarhaiku110)”

- If you’re a Soundcloud user, upload it on Soundcloud and send me the URL via private message, or tag me in the track.

- If you upload your music on Youtube, Bandcamp or anywhere else, upload your submission and then send me the link by email at marco@naviarrecords.com or contact me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram

Floating in the breeze,
A single butterfly.

 

Regarded as the father of contemporary haiku, Masaoka Shiki was a poet and literary critic during the Meiji period Japan.

He advocated realistic observation by “sketching” (shasei) poems and going out into nature with notebooks, thus abandoning the traditional subjects of haiku of the time. His advice for an aspiring poet was, “Use both imaginary pictures and real ones, but prefer the real ones.”

OneAmbient4 - Floating In The Breeze - A Single Butterfly (Naviarhaiku 350)

This is more a result of experimenting with various stripped down music making setups In particular a drum machine, a digital synth and one row of analogue modular (of simple modules). I only had one element in mind with respect to the haiku so I think it doesn't reflect it very well, but it's interesting enough for a very different approach (hit record and perform on synths and mixer).
