Laxá & Heima Kvartett convened in a new rehearsal space, a derelict house with crumbling plaster and a broken chandelier barely hanging from the ceiling. Dust covered the bare floorboards, and every creak was picked up by the studio mics.

Matthias had been working on programming drums and that coupled with him digging in the crates and listening to 90s UK drum and bass led to him putting his kit to one side and setting the percussive tone on this track, a clear counterpoint to the string quartet's more conventional approach.

"Skins" is a mellow electronica track that I produced during fall of 2021. 

At the time, I had finished recovering from an intense leg strain that left me immobile for nearly all of the summer, and was returning to the balance of school, work, and music career. I wanted to communicate the positive feeling of recovery with a warmer sound than "You", a slower counterpart to "Skins" I released earlier this year.
