During the lockdown some of the residents / friends who live in our building in DTLA would get together at our loft from time to time where I would play music while we just hang . Of course it was a very limited number of people (only the ones that lived in the building) and even if most of us never left the building we all whore masks and kept our social distancing. It was fun to play for a small 'crowd' in the middle of the pandemic and I got to record some of those sessions that we had about every other weekend. Here is one of them where I went back to play down to mid-tempo edits like back in the days. The other sessions I recorded are all different, deep house, tech-house, etc. I will be posting those in the upcoming radio shows. So here is the first one and I hope you will dig it like our neighbors did. They are actually the ones that asked me to post them so they can have a copy of it. I'm glad to do it cause it looks like I might have turned some of them to this style of music. I'm like a drug dealer lol

Continuing with the theme from last week here is another mix that was done during the covid 19 lockdown. Again, some of our neighbors were present when I recorded these sets. Last week's mix was mainly mid tempo edits but with this one I picked up the pace with proper house. Since I'm lazy, the majority of the these tracks come from my Toolroom and Salted Music playlists. Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
