You know I really thought this was gonna be the week that I would do something I haven't done in months. That is to miss a week's episode. We are so slam at work that I have been working two weekends in a row (including last week's holiday) non stop.

While listening today to some of the new music I've accumulated in the last few weeks as I worked I just couldn't bring myself to miss an episode. I cranked through to the animations I had to do and got around to record EP-267 before the end of the day. I'm so glad I did cause I needed this to wind down a bit from the craziness.

I felt it was time to slow things down again and started a new series in the Yacht category. We now have Yacht Rock, Yacht Disco, and the new addition Yacht Lounge. It's not the first time I do a downtempo episode but I've done enough that it needs its own category. This show reminded me and made me feel nostalgic of 2015-16 when I use to travel to the south of  France and to Spain to play this style of music on fancy Yachts and bars/clubs by the beach as the sun was setting. Good times!

Lots of new lounge goodies, Disco, surprise edits including new fire that I receive as a promo this week from my friend @larslb on his label Deeper Shades of House that was just perfect for this episode and to close it out.  Close your eyes, relax, and enjoy the sunset.

The NDYD Radio Show  EP271 - Yacht Lounge vol  1

Welcome back to MY HOUSE.

I do mean HOUSE as we took a downtempo detour last week but it's always nice to raise the tempo again and come back to familiar grounds. I usually showcase the latest newest underground releases that are floating around but this time I did something different. My digital crate has over 10K tracks so why not revisit some of the tracks and remixes from the last 10 - 15 years that, in my opinion, were underrated and are still relevant. These tracks are not 'classics' but timeless still. If you've never heard one them you might think it's new. Though, there are a few tracks from artists like Blaze, Sandy Rivera, Robert Owens, and others that would def fall in the classics category. I should really dig deeper more often in that crate as all these tracks are still so fresh.

It just happens that this year the day I usually record the radio show falls on my birthday. What a perfect excuse to do what I love most. Play House music. Twist my Housie rubber arm. So, with a shot of tequila in hand and an audience of one who came to celebrate me on my day I give you EP273 - The Birthday Episode.

The NDYD Radio Show  EP273 - the Birthday Show

This set was recorded on Halloween almost two weeks ago but I am putting out today because the program had guests already scheduled to play.  Both of the last two guests, Pepper and Alex Hook, raised the bar again on the quality of the NDYD Show so hopefully this live recording will live up to it.

Some of you might remember that I had the opportunity on Halloween to warm up for my friend and producer extraordinaire Miguel Migs (@miguelmigs1) in Hollywood. I am honored that it's Miguel that asked for me to be added to the lineup and set the mood for the night. Honored that he thought that my selections would be a good fit with him and his style. The truth is that his musical style has influenced my sets for years. Full circle really. I had an absolute  blast playing that night and the music was incredible all night long. Hopefully this will give you a small glimpse on how it went.

The NDYD Radio Show EP279 - The DEEP End vol. 1

First set for 2023! and so far it's my best of the year ha ha. All jokes aside I am really happy how this live recording from Station 1640 turned out. I got to play my favorite genres and bring energy to the dance floor on this first day of 2023. Day parties are really turning out to be my favorite. Maybe it has something to do with getting older. I also found out what this day drinking craze is all about. Quality tequila works in the daytime too ;) So does quality House Music and this first (live) episode of the year is full of it. I had so much fun playing and starting the year doing my favorite thing in the world.  Hoping you will also enjoy the music as much as the heads on the dance floor did.

Welcome back to the NDYD Radio Show as we return this week with some of the top and newer tracks from amazing artists such as Kings of Tomorrow (KOT), Saison, Richard Earnshaw, Fouk and many more. The stand out track in this episode is from an artist that I have shared the decks with before and who is one of the nicest human in this scene - the amazing and talented @djcolette. I am also privileged to call her a friend for many years. Colette has earn her place in modern House Music history as a producer, vocalist, and a DJ. Her new interpretation of the classic song from The Police 'Message in a Bottle' is the Bee's Knees and with remixes by Demarkus Lewis, Pete Moss, and Local Options it just solidifies it as a staple of a DJ set.

We are back this week with an amazing NDYD alumni - @finaldjs This is not Sebastian's first rodeo on the show and I am so glad he is back with an incredible feel good set.

I am happy he is back not only because of his talent as a producer and DJ but also because he keeps the show going this week. If you are a regular listener you prob notice that there wasn't a show last week. That is because I've been absolutely  slam at Meta with two big project that are due at the beginning of March. I actually would have missed another episode this week if it wasn't for Sebastian's help. Right now I'm on my way to mothership in the Bay Area to work on part of these projects with my coworkers up north. I should be good to do an episode next week but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. In the meantime enjoy FiNAL DJs offering to the House Music Gods :)

We are inching closer and closer to the magic number 300 in terms of episodes. That is a lot of music if you have been following the show since it started in 2016.

Next week, I am taking a break (ie there won't be a show). This is because for the first time in over 5 years I will go to visit my hometown of Montreal to see my family. I'll be gone for 10 days so unless I get my hands on some decks while there this episode (with the other 300 or so before) will have to hold you up for the next two weeks.

The NDYD Radio Show EP294

The music of West Coast DJ, Ricardo Torres can best be described as a blend of deep, soulful house, and disco inflected with the particular sound of the west coast vibe, sultry and smooth. He plays the music that  heads love to dance to; confident that when the music flows from hands that loves the underground it can be an uplifting, groovy and sexy experience.

Ricardo has been on a quest to achieve that perfect mix ever since his first chance encounter at the turntables, in 1987 at his college radio station in Montreal, Canada. His first 12" records were from the Industrial Electronic Music of that time.  Shortly thereafter in 1988, he was first introduced to House Music. Ricardo quickly changed his direction and followed the early days of Chicago House.  He moved towards this style of music since he found it to have a new and unfamiliar energy within itself.

In 1995 Ricardo, moved to Los Angeles, a city basking in sunrays and radiating the good vibes he himself perpetuated. And here, Ricardo discovered the funky, soulfulness of the west coast sound.  Many of his early heroes such as Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, and others gave him the desire to gravitate towards this deeper, more soulful West Coast style.

While still a local Los Angeles DJ, Ricardo - inspired by his love for this genre-decided early on in the year 2000 to post his mixes online to share with the world. This was fairly new and innovative at the time. This act of sharing his musical vision without prejudice or limitations caused him to be sought after to play his brand of house music in cities all over the world. He continues to offer up his masterful mixes, as host of syndicated radio shows online as well as on satellite radio in the USA.

Within the recent past Ricardo joined forces with Nu Disco Your Disco out of Germany for representation and affiliation. This modern Nu Disco sound, to him, is the perfect way to bring that West COast vibe into the future and the new generation. Since NDYD has been a pioneer in bringing the Nu Disco genre to the masses in Europe he felt that they would be the perfect partner for doing the same in North America with their established brand. Hence, the syndicated NDYD Radio Show was born.  The show has been on the air for over a year now and besides Ricardo hosting and DJing it every week, some of the best talent in the industry and from all over the planet have been guest DJs and taken over the show. The loyal following keeps growing episode after episode. 

Underground music trends and styles have changed since Ricardo played his first vinyl record all those years ago but what hasn't changed is that he just loves playing music that inspires the heads to get up and dance!
