On Saturday August 10th, I got together with a couple of friends as we were all going out to the Venice Gets Deep underground event thrown by Deep Events in Venice Beach, CA. It was an amazing night of music curated by Marques Wyatt but it ended at 2am that night (it usually goes later) and my friends and I were not ready to call it a night. I took an executive decision and invited a small group of people to my place (I live in Venice) to continue the music flow we were all experiencing. We got to my studio, I turned on the decks, set up my recorder and started digging in the thumb drives. 3 plus hours later the music was still bumping and the sun was coming up. I love nights like these where the music gives you the energy to keep going and you just get inspired by your friends' reaction to the tracks you dig out. I'm really happy how this 'live' unexpected recording turned out with a nice variety of Edits, House, and Deep House tracks that I usually don't play out but that I love.

Hopefully this recording will give you a hint of the great vibe we were all experiencing at my place, Boiler Room style :)

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.
