As the days grow longer and the weather slowly begins to warm up, The Offline has gifted us with a sonic journey to the summertime with his latest release on “Le Club”. Through his blend of cinematic soul and funk, the track invokes the mood of carefree travels to popular surf spots along the French coast.

The Offline seamlessly connects his new track to the sonics of his first project, continuing his journey into an analogue feel reminiscent of old funk and jazz albums that are often sampled in hip-hop. This cohesive style shows his growth as an artist while still maintaining a consistent sound.

The soulfully visual tune is elevated by its dramatic and cinematic arrangements, paying homage to the moody soundtracks of 1960s and 1970s film composers such as Francois de Roubaix, Brian Bennet, and David Axelrod. The track is a true sonic journey, transporting listeners to a place of summer adventure and nostalgia.

The Offline jumped online for a moment to tell us ““Le Club came about when I was hanging out at a French beach on a sunny summer afternoon. I was capturing moments on my analogue camera, but also wanted to interpret those moments sonically. After arriving back in Hamburg, I teamed up with a bunch of great musicians to bring the track to life.”

Due to drop on Roots Records, 16 March, “Le Club” marks his first single since his 2022 debut EP ‘En Clar-Obscur’, and a perfect continuation of the Hamburg-based composer and photographer Felix Müller instrumental cinematic soul project, The Offline. Part of the DeepMatter Records family, Root Records specialise in instrumental music free of genre restraints.

The Offline's ability to create a soundscape that so vividly captures the essence of a season is a testament to his talent as a musician. This latest release is perfect for those looking to escape to the warm, sunny days of summer, and is sure to be a go-to track for beach trips, backyard barbecues, and any other summer adventure that lies ahead.

Irish DJ & Producer Colm K has been playing at his renowned monthly “Sunday Times!” for seven years and running, but began his interaction with the international music world after his selection for the Red Bull Music Academy in Rome 2003. This resulted in producing studio projects for Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, (including remix duties with Mr Scruff) and Brian Deady, as well as releasing music on Brownswood and Bastard Jazz. He’s also been featured on Ransome Note, Stamp The Wax and a Boiler Room mix. 

Having appeared on R2 Records for Seven Davis Jr’s comp “Future Society” we are happy to announce Colm K has produced an exquisite E.P. for us, each of the three tracks showcasing his versatility.

“Time” is a down tempo soul burner, the beats tight, the production crisp and the vocals of Aisling Kelly riding beautifully.

“Time Again” picks things up with a mid-tempo house track to melt any dance floor. Floating melodies cut with Colm’s signature crisp beats creating a steady growing soulful beast.

Finally “Uncertainty” sees Colm revert to funk break territory, but this time flips it with soulful chords, evolving into a delicious deep groove and synth workout before gently bringing us back down to Earth.

Dimensions Recordings’ fifth release sees the label step into the world of the longplayer with Istanbul native, KEREM AKDAG’s self titled debut album.

Kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of Gilles Peterson through his output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his Getdownsoclose offering on Dimensions’ debut release. His debut album however, sees Kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs.

Across eight tracks Kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. From the stepping beats of When I Think Of You to his subtle vocal layers on Isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of Sultan to the rasping synths of Unite it’s clear that there’s very little that’s outside of Kerem’s arsenal. The album rounds out fittingly with Drums Please, which perfectly displays Kerem’s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that’s more powerful than its parts.

Kerem Akdag’s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!
