SCB Radio Episode #012

Solid Steel (11th November) In Hour 1 we welcome Tasker, the man behind the excellent Young Turks offshoot label, Whities, which has just released it's 9th record by previous Solid Steel guest Reckonwrong. He also has his regular 88 Transition shows on NTS and is part of the Principals collective alongside Bradley Zero and Charles Drakeford, another previous guest. He told us;

"I've been playing a lot of warm up sets this year, particularly at our Whities parties where i always do the first slot. It’s given me a chance to play lots of music that i might not at a later hour and has been really interesting learning about how to sculpt energy levels to a point where everything is just nicely simmering before the next dj takes over. 
This mix reflects some of those experiences with it being quite intricate for the first 30 minutes or so and then it begins to roll along into something more danceable. 
I guess a lot of the music featured is also representative of one of the main things i look for in the music that i play out which is it being extravagant in some way yet functional. Finally, there are also a couple of new Whities bits in there which will be coming out next year!"

You can catch him at the Whities party on 2nd Dec at The Yard with Galcher Lustwerk and Reckonwrong, plus a collab night with Roman Flugel’s Sister Midnight party at Robert Johnson on the 19th Nov with Roman and Minor Science.

Solid Steel (14th April) Saoirse is our guest in Hour 1, who's had a passion for collecting records since her early years growing up in Ireland. Now based in London you can regularly hear her on Rinse FM and playing in clubs across the capital and the world with upcoming festival dates at AVA, Gottwood, Love International, Freerotation, Percolate Open Air and Houghton Festival. You can also catch her this Sunday playing b2b with previous guest Leon Vynehall at Sidexside in London. She told us;
"Ninja Tune alongside other labels such as Warp & Hyperdub were key in helping me discover different forms of electronic music when I started to become obsessed with buying records, it's had a huge influence in how wide my taste has become, so I wanted to put together a mix that reflects some of the sort of music it helped me find in the early days. It's quite different to mixes I've put together in the past for other platforms but is definitely an angle I want to take more and I really enjoyed recording it really loudly with a bottle of red. I play around with tempos a lot in this one so please don't be offended if you recognise a track but it's at the wrong speed :) :) "

There's always something special in the air when we let our hair down behind the Desert Hearts DJ Booth. This year was no exception for me. A lot of emotion and hard work lead up to this year's DH. The heavy tour schedule, as well as scaling back to one festival per year, magnified the importance of this Desert Hearts to our community. It was the usual reset that it always provides to us. That moment when all there is IS the moment. Well, here's that moment for me, when everything disappears. I'm very excited to be able to release this Live set and my heart is full as I share this experience with you. Thanks to everyone who danced and celebrated together. You have no idea how much it means to me.

As highlighted by us in September last year, then Romanians have unwittingly formed a new blend of dance music, blending minimal techno & groove laden deep house, sewn up and exported to some of the clubbing world's hottest cities. Djs Rhadoo, Raresh and many more have helped to define a new sound amongst an overly-familiar genre - including hot export Priku. This Romanian musician and DJ shares a special 2 hour live mix with MEOKO, recorded at Bucharest's Snrs48 party, in turn delivering a live and unedited snapshot of his driving, deep and at times, subtle sound. A dynamic mix - playing with the space between notes and veering into minimal, atmospheric tapestries - Priku's focus on nuances in sound, percussive elements and thick slabs of bass running throughout shall take the MEOKO listener on a far flung, left of centre journey into a lesser known aesthetic. LT's electro roots traces back to the summer of 1997 when at the time he had no idea the genre existed, and was heavily influenced not by electronic dance music, but by the extreme and aggressive styles of metal. Mainly death metal that was birthed in his home base area of tampa bay. His friends literally dragged him kicking and screaming to a late night club in tampa where for the first time he would hear the genre that would change his musical landscapes forever. He witnessed something he had never seen or heard before and it came in the form of a group that to this day he credits as one of his major influences known as Dynamix II.

One of his biggest influences and inspirations James Wolfe, the legendary founder and owner of Frajile Recordings saw the passion and desire to keep the electro fires burning in LT and now has signed him to his Frajile label so that LT can debut his latest work, a collaboration with James, himself, and his good friend and fellow DJ Inf3ctious Kutz titled "#ELECTROFIRST" that is forthcoming Frajile early 2018. 
That is just the beginning for LT so for anyone who shares the love and passion Lt does for electro you DO NOT want to miss one of his sets as he takes you on a spiritual journey thru the darkest and deepest realms of electro so much so, that you will be screaming:

"HALLELUJAH TO THE HOLY ELECTRO GHOST AND GLORY TO THE MACHINES!"

For our 2nd anniversary edition, we could not picture anybody else than the founder of Cultivated Electronics. As most of you know we did a collaboration with him for our first event at the beginning of November and obviously he did not disappoint as he performed a two-hour banging Electro set with some side trails into everything break. 

Also, check his event Scand where he has another edition on the 22nd of February together with The Crave and Creme Organization, the sub-label CE LTD where Versalife released the second EP of the series last month and it goes without saying that you should check all the records of CE and this boss in the spotlight today as these are essential to every Electrohead's ears. 
For this mix, he blended a lot of unreleased, dark and trippy tracks for another work of art, so for now:

TURBO launches WAREHOUSE SERIES with London's @RANDOMER.

In a few short years, Randomer has developed a dedicated cult following, with exceptional releases on some of the UK's most respected underground labels - Hessle, Numbers, and Hemlock. Having recently branched out with his own white-label imprint, the North London producer now looks to conquer the rest of the world with this release on Tiga's emergent techno powerhouse, Turbo Recordings.

RUFFA and NO HOOK are aptly titled, built on clanging, banging, metallic, distorted drums that pack a heavy punch. RUFFA has a distinctly electro feel, centred on a catchy, syncopated synth riff, while NO HOOK relies on only the most basic and brutal elements, with just a single distorted tom rising above the hardcore drum beatdown.

Turbo A&Rs called in their heaviest up-and-coming producer in London's J. Tijn, poised to break through with a pair of recent releases on Hemlock's new sub-label Pennyroyal.

This is futuristic techno at its ruffest and tuffest, uniting kingdoms and birthing dynasties.
