Chimpanzee’ is the earliest written track on the album, inspired by country influences and Bonneville’s experience of moving away for the first time. Looking out of a high-rise flat in Oxford Street Manchester, Bonneville felt like the chimpanzee shot into space in the 1960s. Many will relate, floating away on this melancholic melody and meeting the Chimpanzee and Bonneville in these feelings of being lost and confused.

With angular melodies and cascading drums, ‘We Woke The Monster’ is a loud condemnation of every terrible relationship you've ever had. The latest single from Bristol based Shoun Shoun loads up their genre defying playstyle to deal with the effects of gaslighting and emotional abuse. It talks about narcissistic people that have an inflated sense of self-importance, a lack of empathy and use charm and deceit to manipulate the people around them. Affected people begin to question their own sanity and reality.
‘We Woke The Monster’ is about waking up to this reality and walking away.

The New Nostalgia are Patrick McCallion (vocals, guitar), James Sands (guitar), Sam Bramhall (bass guitar) and Charles Adey (drums). Their reflective and aggressive sound was born during a spontaneous trip to Amsterdam when four old university friends tried to comprehend the existential haze of their mid-twenties. The band have performed shows across the UK and The Netherlands, including a stage headline set at Long Division Festival and sold out shows in Amsterdam (including a socially distanced unplugged set in the main hall at Paradiso). They were also finalists in the NME and DIY Magazines Best Unsigned UK Bands contest for Mad Cool Festival and their track Millennial Love was a finalist and received an honorable mention in the International Songwriting Contest for Best Rock and Best Unsigned, judged by a panel including Tom Waits, Dua Lipa and Coldplay. Their debut album BLEED & BLOOM. is out September 2nd.
