A Dreamer & a Burner

Special K (Mohammed Kamal - 1985) born and raised in Lattakia, Syria only moving to to Dubai in 2011. He has played a major rule in the underground scene in the region from initiating the very first musical gatherings of their kind in Syria in 2003 and bringing it all the way to Dubai in 2013 by Co-founding (Desert Dream Community). This community was inspired by the burning man and other festivals of its kind. He carried out this vision deep in the desert away from the hustle and bustle of the city and in between the dunes. With time he became the key player in the city focused on electronic music festivals, he created and collaborated with most successful festivals (Desert Dream - Elements - Kaynouna- Eunoia- Sandance..... etc.) around Middle East (UAE - Lebanon- Egypt - Jordan - Turkey - KSA - India)

Musically, Special K has always been a pioneer searching and spreading knowledge of the most innovative trends on electronic music, applying a meticulous musical choice on his sets, crossing styles of House and Techno music, traveling from Oriental / Downtempo, Organic house to Progressive/ Melodic rhythm cause he goes with the flow and has on occasion gone on to play for 24hrs straight, although always with surprising with a complex musical selection. Very rhythmic, full of groove and energy.

He mostly performed during events/ festivals which he either created from the ground up or participated in to assist the organizers. He preferred to be behind the scene which helped him be more creative till the pandemic (Covid-19) showed up , so he is one of the 1st who started live streaming through Desert Dream channel along with most talented local & international Djs.
From that day he decided to adapt and share his talent with the world, so he complete what he use to do with Desert Dream ( talent’s hunter ) and found Trinity Festival along with Hot Air Balloon festival & Yalla Festival which already did few trial and ready to be published once the restrictions are gone. 
He streamed for many entities for a human rights, Africa Children. As he did some live streams for HAB festival from the sky (Hot air balloon), Cafe De Anatolia from the desert and working on a projects.

Before a recent move to Los Angeles where he has been immersed in film acting, Garth spent two decades in San Francisco fanning the flames of conscious hell raising that existed there in generations past. Parties with his stamp include a coveted ten year residency at Come Unity, thirteen legendary years with the Wicked Sound System and more recently Back2Back, with right hand man Jeno. His sound is a radical fusion of Acid House, Space Disco & Psyche Rock. His solo All Night Long Loft parties in San Francisco continue to inspire dancers and critics alike.

The Wicked crew reformed in 2011 for a thirteen city Twenty Years of Disco Glory Tour of the States & Japan. Garth spent seven weeks of 2010/2011 touring extensively with DJ Harvey in Australia and Japan.

Bringing UK sound system culture to San Francisco in 1991, Wicked's lawless full moon beach parties ushered in an era of Acid House hysteria that ripped through the west coast and spread into the heartland. Wicked are credited widely with kick-starting the City's Acid House scene in the early 90's, cementing its reputation as the red headed step child of Disco.

Scoring a Tony Andrews designed Turbosound rig, they toured in a '47 Greyhound bus whose previous owners were a gospel choir hitting the road to spread their own gospel across the States. Wicked was the pioneering sound system at Burning Man in 1995.

Wicked Presents brought the cream of House luminaries to San Francisco including Tony Humphries, DJ Harvey, Doc Martin, Louis Vega, Roger S, Robert Owens, DJ Pierre, K Alexi, Chez Damier, Stacey Pullen, Alton M, Agent X, Kenny Hawkes, Three, Joe Claussel & Francois K.

Garth holds court at many of the world's best nightclubs including Eleven, Mago, Gold, Yellow, Townsend, 1015, The Roxy, Twilo, Fabric, The End, Horsemeat Disco, Sublevel, Thirtynine Hotel, Rex, Room, Lux & Zouk. He has been voted amongst America's top DJs in Urb, XLR8R and DJ Magazines. For many years he pioneered all night Dub sets on the only renegade system permitted at Reggae on the River where Jamaican legends Mikey Dread and Junior Reid stopped by the bus to rock the mic.

The same bus provided inspiration for a record label. Since '98 Grayhound has released 50+ singles documenting an edgier West Coast sound. Artists include Wicked (Garth, Markie, Jeno & Thomas), Rocket, Perry Farrell, ETI, DJ Harvey, The Glimmers & Ray Mang, Darryl Pandy, Michoacan, DJ Rasoul, Nectar, Stranger, Steve Kotey & EBE. Many recording artists launched their careers on the label.

His breakout anthem with E.T.I. 'Twenty Minutes of Disco Glory' shook things up internationally, praised by Muzik Magazine as one of the best dance singles of '96. Since then he has produced 60 records under various pseudonyms working with Anthony Mansfield, Eric James (Rocket), Rob Doten (Crosstown Traffic) and Markie Mark or Jeno (Wicked). His remixes include Freeland, The Units, Faithless, Halo Varga, The Glimmers, Rob Rives, Dada Munchamonkey, Perry Farrell (Janes Addiction), Yabby You, Mutabaruka and Tribe Called Quest.

He has compiled and mixed albums for Om, NRK, Thrive & Grayhound, Sex + Design Magazine & Farmers Daughter Hotel. Grayhound productions have been licensed to countless DJ mix CDs and Garth's music can be found in two films - SF rave flick 'Groove' and Gus Van Sant's 'Speedway Junky'.

Since 2007 he and collector/dealer James Glass have been waving the flag for Golden Goose re-edits, raiding their record collections & respectfully placing Disco/Rock obscurities under the knife as King & Hound.

Remaining true to the original art form, he can be found playing all-vinyl sets out in Hawaii, Japan, Fiji, Korea, Spain, England, Greece, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, even Indonesia and Malaysia, turning parties out upon request.

All Day I Dream explores beautiful, emotional and melancholic shades of House and Techno through its label's releases, events and artists.

All Day I Dream events began on a Brooklyn rooftop back in 2011 and have since become an international sensation. Around the world, crowds continue to be drawn to the experience and to become a part of it's community. Spurred on by the music of Lee Burridge and his unique roster of artists, each brings his or her own emotive musical vision to the daytime party. Sounds that are all too rare in the current electronic music scene.

Each year the events continue to spread out across the world. From Los Angeles to London. Melbourne to Moscow, Berlin to Beirut to Brazil and back to their spiritual home base of New York City. They continue to flourish due, in part, to a core ideal. To create something truly magical. The passion to create magic manifests itself  both in those organizing as well as those attending the events.  

All Day I Dream also continually forges it's own unique ambience through a combination of the musical journeys taken by it's listeners as well as noteworthy venue choices. Each location transformed with the event's bespoke production design. Structural art, hanging gardens, colourful fabrics, fairy lights and lanterns. All melded together to fashion an unparalleled, irresitable atmosphere.

Organic. Electronic. Nu Gaia.

In the beginning there were low-lit 3am FM radio broadcasts with tape loops, turntables, poorly mic’d hand percussion, copious analogue delay, and numerous talented dj’s + other guests, many of whom have long since gone on to earn great due repute worldwide. This was 1992.

Through multiple incarnations of shows, many of which were situated on the crystalline frequencies of the ever-pertinent bastion of soundness, CiTR 101.9fm, the evolution of this perpetually evolving channel currently manifests and maintains as Mantra Radio.

There is _an_ unfolding, not cliche at all actually, and one way it’s known, lived, and celebrated is through the subtle language of sound vibration. There is a coming together around this, an expansion of the vocabulary, a sharing of experiences, a higher connection. Lineages great and small can be traced of the beings who have contributed to this beautiful conversation. Mantra Radio, and it’s preceding forms, were and are interested in supporting such transmissions and the people who sculpt them.

As the binaries of organic and technospheric, spirit and soil, converge and dissipate, we are engaged in soundtracking this continuously new’ing paradigm. We sometimes use the term nu-gaia to capture this concept. We invite you to share in the benevolent static. A shifting sum of sculpted vibrations formed by the minds of many gifted composers, appositely curated and hosted by Raghunath Khe (@raghunathkhe)
