Diffused Dead Icon Inspires Hobbyist To Exceed Entry Level Building Skills is the first track from a new project called "Then She Reaches For The Gun". Its inspiration is two fold: Firstly its a homage to some of the stuff i grew up listening to like Mr. Bungle and other noisy bastards where anything goes, and often in quick fire succession and secondly its a chance to work with an never ending stream of talented musicians that i have known for years either in real life Australia or via the Internet. I was sitting there one day pondering on the thought, “Now I’ve lost my King, what do I do now?”  Out of the darkness, two understanding super-heroes appeared and helped me to survive. 

We have shared some sadness over the years but also our love for family life, producing songs and music that have an importance to us all. The most special thing is a friendship that has grown without condition and even though there is a distance of over 500 miles between us, there is the closeness of thinking with a single mind.

The garage doors are open to our private rockers club, with our band enjoying the camaraderie born out of music.

Experimented on this one over-editing vocal line on the left, and getting midi files out of organic guitar melodies, which I could play with virtual instruments. Dance of the Deserted Spaces is composed using field recordings taken from four different locations across the globe after the Covid-19 outbreak resulted in mass public lockdowns. The sonic character of these places shifted dramatically once stripped of the dominance of human activity and previously hidden aural worlds built from nature, automated machinery, the reverberation of open space and the earth itself revealed themselves.
The piece takes these ‘background’ sounds and give them a stage of their own to dance, converse, expand and exist independent from their relationship to human presence. These normally unregistered noises evolve rhythmically and harmonically in an autonomous celebration
of sound itself.
The idea developed from my last night on duty at the museum I work for in Tasmania, Australia. With the museum suddenly closed indefinitely to the public I walked from gallery to gallery shutting down all but the most basic power and lighting systems and listened as the empty
building revealed a new sonic atmosphere of gentle creaks, air-conditioning and essential plant mechanics. There was a sense of spirit emitting from the vacant architecture and the ever working
but unchampioned infrastructure the allowed these places to be habitable.
The sounds of the museum were recorded that night and form the raw material for Dance of the Deserted Spaces along with field recordings sent to me from a deserted intersection in Brooklyn, the empty auditorium of an international school in Yokohama and the entrance to the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in Paris.
Ideas of dystopia, harmony, freedom, tension and evolution are explored as the global sounds come together in defiance of cultural classification, revelling in the peopleless space and time.
Life and energy beyond the reductive parameters of humanity and society are given a platform to create a celebratory noisescape of the omnipresent sounds the secretly surround us.

This song is part of an LP of 12 songs that I made with Stricknice, Bitzone, and Wou-Wou & The Wormling (and many other friends who you all know on SoundCloud) from a massive set of demo tracks that Wou-Wou graciously passed on to me. Basically, this LP worth of songs was an early pandemic gift cause I had a little extra time on my hands to make music! I was originally going to release all the songs in one long track but one of my muses kept telling me to release this song on its own and I eventually succumbed to her wishes. I am massively grateful for all the work Stricknice, Bitzone, and Wou-Wou put into this big project. There may be more songs from this project that trickle out before the whole set is released. It was super cool to finally work with Bontender on a song. I have been a big fan of his indie rock sound for a long time. Bonetender rocks!!!

“I Giorni dello Stupore” è un progetto nato in condizioni di isolamento durante il lockdown di marzo-aprile 2020; i tre artisti hanno volto queste limitazioni a proprio favore, concependo una pratica di creazione musicale a distanza che trasformasse le intrinseche limitazioni imposte dalla quarantena in una possibilità di indagare nuovi modi di interazione musicale perfino nell’ambito della musica improvvisata, per la quale il trovarsi nello stesso luogo nello stesso momento è apparentemente condizione imprescindibile.
Per due mesi esatti è stata prodotta una traccia sonora al giorno (della quale veniva preventivamente definito l’esatto minutaggio attraverso pratiche aleatorie), risultato della giustapposizione di tre contributi sonori completamente indipendenti.
Ne è così risultato un diario sonoro fatto di musica elettroacustica, poesia, spoken word e field recordings degli ambienti nei quali la reclusione si è svolta.
A lavoro ultimato gli artisti hanno aggiunto al concept un ulteriore livello semantico, attribuendolo a Marile Repausuri, fittizia performer artist, musicista, intellettuale, scrittrice ed attivista politica che avrebbe operato in reclusione nel corso del ventesimo secolo, producendo un corpus di testi poetici, disegni, saggi teorici e partiture grafiche. Per vari decenni i suoi lavori sarebbero rimasti del tutto irreperibili, salvo poi riaffiorare in alcuni siti web nei primissimi anni del ventunesimo secolo in forma di brevi e spesso molto enigmatici frammenti. Più recentemente un gruppo di artisti si sarebbe proposto di organizzarli e di ricomporli in un’opera sonora aperta, costituendo a tale scopo un collettivo internazionale che porta il nome dell’artista.

Il progetto si interroga sulla quotidiana ripetizione sonora in tempo di lockdown all’interno degli spazi domestici. Un gruppo di studenti della Scuola Aldo Moro di Bucarest ha messo in evidenza il proprio ambiente sonoro e la sua riscoperta acustica.
Scoprire e riscoprire, con l’intenzione di interagire attivamente con gli oggetti del quotidiano rendendo più presente e attivo il proprio essere e stare. Ognuno ha provato a registrare sia il suono emesso da utensili domestici sia quello prodotto dall'ascolto del paesaggio sonoro ascoltato in finestra. Materiale che è stato poi lavorato, frammentato e ripetuto. Il titolo del lavoro prende in gioco, inevitabilmente visto il momento, la ripetizione e il suo significato pandemico.
Il risultato vuole essere un piccolo omaggio a chi, come molti ma forse più di tutti, risentirà a lungo di questa situazione ed è dedicato a tutti gli studenti.

Music For 18 Students

Walking in the dark / Space eraser is based on two connected actions that we performed in the last month. The work was created following several steps:
1. Choose an architecture in the city (L'Aquila and Brussels respectively), to perform a live performance, diffusing the sound in specific ways across the space and at the same time recording everything.
2. Create a track and sent it to each other, without revealing anything about the space combined with a series of questions about the perceptive listening experience 
3. Listen to each other's track and record the answers.
4. Juxtapose the different layers and create a piece.

Feeling very lucky to be involved in this recent festival project. Link to website at the bottom of this info. There is a lot to this one! The short version is under the guidance of Composer Madeleine Flynn myself and 6 other musicians performed a beautiful work on two different rivers in my home state of Tasmania during the MONA FOMA 2021 festival. The instrumentation included horns, strings, sirens/fog horns, intonarumori and many other sound and trad instruments as well as a beautiful and moving text from Theresa Saintly. Relay / Country Remembers Her Names

A slowly unfolding relay of land and sea signals echoes across our fair island, opening and closing the festival. Foghorns streamed from Low Head, boat horns, sirens, experimental intonarumori instruments, palawa kani (the language of Tasmanian Aboriginal people), bagpipe streamed from Queenstown, and other sound-making apparatus call each other over land and water, and ask us to reflect on where we are. From wukalina / Mount William and pilawaytakinta / Low Head, to Queenstown, Launceston and nipaluna / Hobart.  

You will hear the work projected from a moving vessel meandering close to shore. In Launceston, listen from the banks of kanamaluka / Tamar River around Riverbend Park, Royal Park and Seaport. In Hobart, listen from the banks of the Derwent around the Hobart foreshore, to Long Beach, Sandy Bay, and on the eastern shore between Howrah and Bellerive.

When I first heard this work on the "IPG1" page, I still didn't understand how wonderful it was. I realized that when I heard "Lillithe" make it into a work. I once again admired the musical talent of "Lillithe". I thought there was no room for me to get in there. But that wasn't the end of the story. This is because "Paploviante", a partner of "Lillithe", finished it in another work. The work was also a wonderful finish. As I listened to it many times, one day I suddenly began to wonder, "I think this is blues." I chose a blues three-code that matches the work of "Paploviante". I checked whether the scale derived from it fits the Vocal of "IPG1". It matched exactly. The three chords are introduced below, so if you are practicing playing the guitar, please play the guitar with our recording.Please take this opportunity to check the relationship between the blues chord progression and the blue note scale.
