Forged in the cohesion labs of Indianapolis, the XK3 EP by producer D. Strange dives into the metallic underworld of alienated shadows to create 5 icy acid electro cuts.

The submerged acid-tinged opener, ‘Sonic Recoil,’ ascends with a snarling pathos of trap hats that pierce through the looming fog of the club. ‘Negative Center’ haunts in cunning dexterity and grooves with a jacking pace of brooding momentum. Somewhere in the maze of resonance droplets, cascading hats, and the ominous synth pads, the track “A Black Liquid Filled My Lungs” hypnotizes in its atmospheric acid electro hybrid. Right out of the gate, the self-titled track ‘XK3’ punishes with off-beat synth shards and glitchy, mechanical snares that snap in anthemic propulsion. While ‘Ghost of Kashif’ weaves itself in esoteric, yet evocative, soundscapes with club menacing fashion. Rounding out the release, fellow Indianapolis producer Noncompliant contributes a cruel electro sub-heating take of ‘XK3,’ to warm the boreal tips of the EP.

Indianapolis techno mainstay DJ Shiva makes her debut on Different Is Different Records with her own distinct brand of Midwest techno as well as possibly important answers for hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings.

"Hackjammer" is a mechanistic jack stomp through the buzzing wires and fried circuitry of post-planetary destruction, while "Pride Before" throws in some dirty swing and smashing bass to achieve the sonic effect of a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.  

Andrei Morant steps up his groove game with a seriously deep take on "Pride Before", stripping down the beats and turning everything into an emotive "sunrise  over the space station" kind of feel.  Or maybe it's a "last day of Earth's existence" feel.  Either way, it's quite nice.

Apropos of a sweltering summer, Allergy Season is excited to share 3 synth-drenched cuts by Brooklyn's John Barera & Paul Morse. Barera and Morse have previously delivered doses of their tough melodic techno on two Allergy Season compilations, and separately have seen work released on labels like Steffi's Dolly and Barera's own Supply Records.

On the figurative flip side of the record, two Allergy Season favorites deliver razor-sharp electro remixes. Delft label-boss LA-4A chops "Pantheon" into an heavy-stepping earworm and Midwestern legend DJ Shiva delivers a futuristic take under her new Noncompliant alias.

Pantheon by John Barera & Paul Morse is out July 17th on Allergy Season and available from all well-stocked digital retailers.

Cute Heels is the project of Victor Lenis, a contemporary electronic artist living in Berlin, Germany. He grew up in Bogotá, Columbia during the 1990s, surrounded by the radial punk scene. Over the years, Victor's passion and fascination for synthesizers and drum machines to produce and compose resulted in his debut album “Spiritual" for Dark Entries in 2014 as well as the “Third Skin” EP in 2016.  Inspired by equal parts Liaisons Dangereuses, Drexciya and Black Devil Disco Club, Cute Heels connects the dots between Detroit techno, early Chicago house and Belgium electronic body music.

“State of Mind” is a 4-track EP featuring the vocal talents of Berlin artist Aga Wilk aka Romance Disaster on the the title track.  On the A-side are two fresh compositions recorded in New York and Bogota between 2016 and 2017. Victor says, “State of Mind refers to the subconscious as dominated by real facts, natural, unnatural, metaphysical or virtual and dynamism of the body as physical shield.” The track is a slow building foray into techno, elegantly suited for intangible moments. “Golden Tears” kicks off with Cute Heels’ signature metallic EBM funk played with punchy, percussive analog synths. On the flip we present two banging club remixes. The first is from LA-4A, techno DJ and producer Kevin McHugh aka Ambivalent, who adds a strong kick drum and lacerating hi-hats that build up to a mind melting breakdown with a full on acid squelch attack. The second remix comes from Noncompliant, Midwest US-based producer Lisa Smith aka DJ Shiva, who  creates a raw, thumping exercise though off-kilter mechanics and punishing percussion. All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley.  The record comes in a custom-made die-cut jacket designed by Eloise Leigh featuring suggestive rope bondage graphic printed spot black matte on black hi-gloss finish. Each copy includes a postcard.
