I've been peelin up on dancefloors across Western Canada for over a decade now. With a collection of ripe tracks, tasty edits, occasional originals, choice acapellas, and a MPC full of sonic goodies, I strive to cater a tastefully unique experience to every environment I am invited to play.

With a signature blend of Bass music, Hip-Hop, Halftime, DnB, UKG, Grime, House, Funk, and everything in-between, I'll keep the dancefloor bumpin all day or night. I'm a seasoned DJ, hobby beat maker, and versatile Canadian artist that actively contributes to the betterment of our immaculate west coast music festival culture.

Originally from Ontario, TheFunkySlab has been calling Calgary his home since 2010. From a very early age, his older brother introduced him to a wide range of music genres that has influenced him greatly. Everything from funk, soul, motown and hip-hop to classic rock, punk, reggae and 90s electronic music. Coming from a family of musicians, he began his musical journey at a young age playing piano but found his true passion playing the bass. This led him to play in several different bands, performing live shows and recording a few EP's along the way in his early adult life. He attended his first music festival in 2012 which sparked his interest to one day start DJing. Since then, he has been an avid festival goer with a heavy involvement in the Calgary electronic music scene. In 2018, he took the plunge and finally got behind the decks and started playing at house parties or wherever the opportunity presented itself. With the guidance and mentorship of his good friends Freddy J, Marc Thomas, Magic&Johnson, Lucy Lynx and Father Funk, this self taught DJ is eager to fill the dance floor with his charismatic personality and musical talents.


The GOAT is Chris Marcinkiewicz,  an artist who’s sole purpose is
boundless sound exploration and transferring its emotive energy to
dance floors. His primal grooves, obscure melodies and euclidean
rhythms, are on full display with releases on the likes of Flash
Recordings, Kneaded Pains, Unknown Territory, Coincidence Records
and Groundwerk Recordings. 

His 40+ releases have consistently
landed in Beatport’s top 10 techno charts and have received
support by Richie Hawtin, Charlotte DeWitte, Risa Taniguchi, Hans
Bouffmyhre, Alex Bau, Sylvie Maziarz, and more. 

A devotee to all things techno, he specializes in curating dark
expansive vibes for the warehouse or after party, which marry
the atmospheres of his releases into his DJ sets. These energetic
performances have led him to sharing the booth with such luminaries
as Chris Liebing, Kevin Saunderson, Layton Giordani, D-Unity, Maedon,
Ramon Tapia, Dave Angel, Claude Young, Theo Komp all over the
west coast of Canada, USA, and the UK.

Those who have experienced the soundscape journey of Bass Panda know the energy that he brings to the dance floor. Capable of packing whatever space he is invited to, this uplifting deejay charges the crowd with his impeccable song selection and inspiring artistic integrity. The mastery of his sound sense allows him to seamlessly blend live saxophone performance through multiple genres, personal edits and mashups, tempo changes, and classics to create an incredibly unique audience experience.

Bass Panda has established himself well in the community through a solid and supportive fan base who make a point of being at his shows, and has also become well-recognized online, with his mixes having reached well over 350,000 listens. In addition to performing at FozzyFest for 7 years, he has also had numerous sets at Wicked Woods, Vibes, Motion Notion, Astral Harvest, and FreezerBurn. Earlier highlights include opening for Far Too Loud, The Librarian, LongWalkShortDock, and Balkan Bump.
