LOS PASTORES present "SMOKE GAME EP" (OBLACK 014) Special colour vinyl edition

Blue, that's the colour of the new and beautiful Oblack vinyl, and this is not just a coincidence. Los Pastores, the owners of this consolidated and growing label, are the ones in charge of the fourteenth release of one of the most significant underground music series in the world. “Smoke Game EP” is no joke: It is Snna and Arauz at their best. It's not just a good kick and a rhythm, all the content is soaked in a tasty, concentrated balearic sauce.

The track that gives name to the EP is a good example of it. “Smoke Game” stinks of darkness; A magnificient and adictive housey rhythm, almost toxic. It has a very well defined old school bassline. Special mention to the vocals in the background, giving an even bigger underground touch. The remix of the track comes signed by the french producer Djebali in a more clubby version. He offers a playful Tech-house landscape that points straight to the dance floor, but still respecting the original idea. Well played!

“What Happened” is the second track of the EP produced by Los Pastores in this good looking black and blue vinyl. It is here where the release goes deeper and deeper. It has their signature, nobody can doubt that. A dry kick is a good starter for a great combination of elements that keep coming step by step, until finally an expected heavy bassline comes in scene. It smells of Chicago and that's a good sign. Nobody cares if it rains or if it is sunny when you listen to these sounds. It has to be said, this is one of the best Oblack tracks in the history of the label. It is  good evidence that Arauz and Snna are excitingly evolving to a better stage. 

Finally, the remix of the North American Filsonik, adds some warmth and beauty to the EP. It demonstrates common sense in this pure clubby madness designed by the underground Oblack founders.

Well, it is time to dance over the black and blue rainbow... and watch out for the “Smoke Game” video coming up soon, with each frame shot solely in Ibiza.

Azul es este nuevo, y bello, vinilo de Oblack y no es casualidad. Los Pastores –dueño y señores del redil en el que se cría, consolida y crece su sello Oblack, son los encargados de rubricar esta catorceava entrega de una de las series electrónicas undergrounds más celebradas de los últimos tiempos en España y para el mundo. Y es que este “Smoke Game EP” se anda con pocos rodeos: Snna y Arauz en estado puro. Pero no solo hay bombo y ritmazo en estos temas, todo su contenido viene bien remojado por ese balearic que tan bien le sienta al atemperarlo, dándole brillo y esplendor.

El tema que nomina el EP es el mejor ejemplo de ello. “Smoke Game” destila aromas blackys hasta decir basta; su ritmo housy es adictivo, casi tóxico, y viene diestramente definido por un bassline oldschoolero permanente y marcial. Como las vocales que lo aderezan suena oscuro, lejano… venido desde un underground que aquí rezuma en cada surco. El remix que sobre “Smoke Game” rubrica el francés Djebali es una versión más clubby, un pasaje de tech-house descarado y juguetón, como mandan sus propios cánones, que mira a la pista de baile a los ojos pero que respeta la idea original, su esencia y hasta sus vocales. Acertado, humeante, acanallado y bailón.

“What Happened” es el segundo tema del EP que firma Los Pastores en este vinilo azul veteado en negro. Aquí el tercio cambia y nos lleva a estancias más deeperas dentro de ese underground es que es “marca de la casa” bucólica y pastoril. Tras un bombo seco y poco amigo de épicas se sucede un tema al que se le van sumando una cantidad ingente de elementos sonoros que lo hacen mutar hasta que aparece, al fin, ese bassline quedón, chicaguero, vacilón. Y aquí es cuando empieza lo bueno. Fanfararria marciana incluida. Sin duda se trata de uno de los mejores tracks de Oblack y, por supuesto, de Los Pastores. Es la mejor prueba enloquecida de que la evolución del sonido de Arauz y Snna –tanto monta monta tanto- está siendo excitante. Finalmente el remix del norteamericano Filsonik le aporta tibieza, sentido común y ciertas dotes de raciocinio a un tema original que es mucho más que eso: es pura locura club surgida desde el abrasivo subterráneo pastoril.

En fin, bailar sobre azul y negro… y atentos: “Smoke Game” viene acompañado de un vídeo grabado íntegramente en Ibiza.

Lost Records have drafted in Hector Couto to helm the label’s sophomore release. Straight off the bat Hector kicks off the EP with the title track “I Believe”, a hypnotic and infectious number armed to the teeth with precise hi-hats and brooding basslines. “I Believe” cements Hector Couto’s production to an ever evolving sound while setting the stage perfectly for the follow up track “Knight Riders”.

Built on similar foundations to “I Believe”, “Knight Riders” introduces a rich soundscape, playingdeep and shadowy attributes against a field of succinct vocals and lead synth lines. Closing the EP we have remix heavyweights Waifs & Strays, 2013 being a blistering year for the production duo so far, seeing them feature on a plethora of releases. The remix ticks the boxes on what is becoming a key set of signature attributes that make up the duo’s sound, welding key features of the original and pinning them into a heavier groove whilst playing off atmospheric build ups and break downs.

Off the back of Kry Wolf’s release, Food Music returns with another quality release, this time from UK duo ‘Danism’, and collaborator ‘Rae’.

Dan Smith (of Liquid People fame) and Drum n Bass tyrant Dan Nu:Tone, collectively known as ‘Danism’, are no strangers to the UK club scene. Sharing instrumental and production talent alongside an ability to move the dance floor makes Danism an unstoppable duo. With previous releases receiving widespread support and having featured on labels such as Noir Music, the Danism EP sees the pair deliver two huge tracks that promise to shake up clubs all over.

First up is ‘Sirens’. The track begins with an atmospheric and dreamy intro before switching up into a roaring bass-led groover.  Combining the growling bass with a serious rolling beat makes ‘Sirens’ a guaranteed weapon for the club.

 On the flip is ‘Work on this’, which builds on a repeated and hypnotizing vocal before diving into a punchy drop. As the track develops, the sub-bass and sweeping tones make ‘Work on this’ one to tremor dance floors with a killer sound system.

'Everything' ft. Karin Park (Breach Remix)

From 2012 the label Oblack was set up as an exclusive platform of music expression of Los Pastores, Snna and Nacho Arauz. From Valencia -if Ibiza excuses us- this label bets on undergound house produced on a digital platform, and especially vinyl. Up until now, several artists have released on the label: Luke Solomon, Justin Harris, Yaya, Tuccillo, Filsonik, Brett Johnson, Jay Haze, Phil Weeks, Djebali, Italoboyz or Neverdogs, among others. Their releases- with the highligts of 'Other Sentido EP’, ‘Smoke Game EP’ and 'Discover Base EP' -have been played by masters such as Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Apollonia, The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, Mirko Loko, Catz N Dogz and Ricardo Villalobos. They have currently have put out 19 releases, and they have signed as producers 11 of those in vinyl. At present, their 'Vinyl Only' project is the one they feel the most excited about, in so far as it brings back the most genuine format for djs, the 12”. In this new division they have released their first album- under the name of ‘Los Pastores with collaborations’- in which they have guests as System2, Javi Bora, Aldo Cadiz, Juliche Hernandez and Hanfry Martinez. 


Moreover, since 2013 their already infamous 'Oblack Label Nights' have taken their very own signature all around Spain. In this parties they have shared the dj booth with artists like Yaya, Tuccillo, Phil Weeks, Arado, Andrew Grant, Tato, Filsonik or Neverdogs, organising also their successful and acclaimed dates in Ibiza venues such as Destino, No Name, Sankeys or City Hall in Barcelona.
