I listened to Summertime. I really liked your interpretation of this Gershwin classic. Warm and soft at the same time. And Arne's trumpet as well as Debra's piano create a perfect atmosphere for your voice. Beautiful!

The Smoking Trout continue our tale of the Quest for the Holy Dumpling. This time we're joined by our biggest crew yet! Stonerjazz (Jeff) got us started and somehow the whole process unfolded quite organically from there. Those individuals on wheels had a hard time finding their feed. Hungry they were - for that special dumpling that connects you to anything pagans and believers alike deem holy. Although endowed with holgraphic properties, you can't walk on clouds unless they are numbered. They kept drifting upwards, therefore, slowly upwards until they hit the ceiling called Mars. Mars always happens to be where your head needs something to bump against. That's the nature of war.

Spring turns into summer, no matter what the world looks like, no matter how dark it looks. With summer comes more light. 
This version of Summertime reflects many emotions, including the joy of what nature gives us in terms of light and new life.
"Summertime" is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel Porgy on which the opera was based, and Ira Gershwin. 
The song is sung several times throughout Porgy and Bess, and in act 3 by Bess, singing to Clara's now-orphaned baby after both parents died in the storm.
Composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim characterized Heyward's lyrics for "Summertime" as "the best lyrics in the musical theater".

Oddrun Eikli is the singer in Loops and Bridges. A project headed by Oddrun Eikli and Arne Hiorth. Oddrun Eikli sings, composes the melodies and writes the lyrics , Arne Hiorth does the arranging trumpet work and studio engineering.
