With releases on forward-thinking labels like FLOAT, Truncate, and MORD, Metapattern has quickly established themselves as a dynamic and innovative force in the scene. Their sound has evolved from a focus on harder, more mental textures towards a broader palette, prioritizing expressive tools to craft tracks that are both functional and deeply engaging.

Metapattern seeks a delicate balance between familiarity and innovation. Their goal is to push the boundaries of techno while honoring its roots, delivering music that is not only dancefloor-ready but also imbued with emotion and a profound sense of artistry. This deep connection to the dancefloor stems from the artist's lifelong passion for movement, translating that energy and expression into every beat.

Metapattern is also an Ableton certified professor, author of two books, "Secrets Of Techno," and a professional educator for nearly two decades.

We're also thrilled to share  that Metapattern has just released their second album, "Lost Tapes," on the MORD label.

This episode continues VARIA's mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

Andres Vargas Aka VARTES, es un dj y productor nacido en Palmira - Valle del Cauca, radicado actualmente en Madrid, ha forjado su camino en la música a base de experimentación y prueba y error, músico instrumentista y apasionado del sonido, se adentra en el mundo del techno cuando da sus primeros pasos en la producción al tener contacto por primera vez con las maquinas analogicas, comenzando a profundizar desde las raíces crea una conexión directa con el sonido hipnótico, las atmósferas oscuras y la contundencia de los kicks afilados.

Actualmente se ha ido ganando su lugar en la capital española como un destacado dj con su característica forma de construir metódicamente sesiones llenas de hipnosis que parecen nunca tener fin, en esta ocasión nos muestra algo de su selección más personal, un set sin límites donde las atmósferas son las protagonistas y la energía se define como una montaña rusa de emociones

Argentinian-born and Milan-based, Yamila’s personality was moulded by South American tribal rhythms, progressive rock synths, and dreamy sounds from alternative and electronic music. Shifting her choir experience into her sets, vocals and chorus became a core feature of her musical identity: a proper voice in the flow designed for the dancefloor. 

After 5 years of delving deep into Berlin’s techno culture, she brought back in Italy her emotional approach to music, slowly paving her way into the electronic music scene both as an organiser and a DJ. 

In 2021 she became resident DJ and active member of Closer, an authentic institution for inclusive and immersive party seekers: playing at Masada and Amelia, collaborating with high-calibre crews such as Bassiani, Tresor, Fuse, Vault Sessions and Meat Free, and sharing the booth with exquisite international DJs allowed her to develop a tight bond and an extraordinary sensitivity towards the dancefloor and its fluctuating moods. 

A mélange of evocative descriptors encapsulates Yamila’s auditory signature: passionate beats, uplifting grooves, peak-hour frequencies, drum-fuelled rhythms. But most of all, the essence of her sound cross-pollinates a wide spectrum of feelings and emotions, framed in an ethereal atmosphere and directed to touch your soul like a loving caress.

Set the Mood with BR!NK!

For the 56th edition of the Set the Mood podcast series, we’re excited to welcome BR!NK. In this mix, BR!NK shares what the perfect opening set means to him:

It begins with a touch of ambient, completely beatless—setting the atmosphere gently. From there, it fluently transitions into deeper techno with a slower tempo, floating around 130 BPM. As the set progresses, it builds toward a more groovy and hypnotic flow. After about two hours, the BPM can rise to 138 or even higher. This natural progression is exactly what BR!NK aimed to capture in his contribution to the Set the Mood series.

BR!NK, the alias of Coen Brink (1992), was born in the Netherlands near Amsterdam and is currently based in Stuttgart, Germany. From a young age, he was obsessed with searching for and exploring new music—an obsession that laid the foundation for his love of House and Techno.

As a producer, BR!NK has released music on respected labels such as Splatter, Sense Affair, Influenced Records, Raw Pendulum, Trau-ma, EvilGroove, Donker, RM Label, Synergie, Schimmer, DifferentSound, and most recently, Safe Space. With a deep knowledge of both timeless classics and the latest underground releases, he crafts atmospheres that resonate whether in the club, at a festival, or during the afters.

In his sets, you can expect high-paced, groovy, and hypnotic techno. This is the perfect opener for that.

Born in Southern Spain, this DJ and producer has immersed himself in the electronic music scene for over 15 years, beginning his journey at just 14 with his first pair of vinyl decks.
By the age of 17, he was already crafting his own tracks. After a decade of self-taught sound design and further studies in harmony, his current work showcases the immense potential
of this versatile and innovative electronic artist. For the past decade, he has focused primarily on Drum & Bass under the alias Impak. Establishing himself as one of the genre’s most influential figures in Spain. His finely honed productions frequently graced the Beatport charts, and his name became synonymous with top-tier Drum & Bass events. As a resident DJ at the iconic
Industrial Copera in Granada, he cemented his reputation while regularly headlining parties across the country. On the international stage, Impak became a recognized name, releasing music with esteemed labels such as Cause4Concern and earning support from key figures like Optiv, BTK, and Prolix. His sound echoed through venues across Europe on numerous tours, further solidifying his place in the global scene. In recent years, this wealth of experience has fueled his shift into the world of techno under the alias Atonism. With his second vinyl release on Freddy K's Key Vinyl label, as well as more than ten digital releases on respected labels such as Flash, Warok, Autonome, Cantilce and Olympian, Atonism’s sound is a blend of intellectual grooves and captivating rhythms. His music seamlessly combines carefully crafted sound design with powerful, yet refined, textures. Drawing inspiration from techno, groove, neuro, and analog approaches, Atonism’s compositions are crafted with precision and intent, aimed at creating a rich, immersive experience on the dancefloor. Now, with a refined approach to musicality and a deeper sense of elegance in his work, Atonism represents the next chapter of an already remarkable journey, pushing boundaries and evolving his sound with every release.

In the DJ booth, E2NMN crafts immersive experiences through the deeper
spectrum of techno, where atmospheric textures meet intricate rhythms and
powerful synth work. Her appearances at respected venues like Tresor’s New
Faces night have further cemented her presence within Berlin’s active techno
scene. E2NMN’s sets transcend mere movement, aiming to forge a deeper
connection and spark introspection on the dancefloor.
E2NMN relocation to Berlin ignited a deep immersion in the city’s vibrant after-
hours scene, leading to the co-founding of the Warum nicht? Kollektiv – a
testament to her early drive and collaborative spirit. E2NMN has also marked her
debut in France as a producer with the « Choices » EP on the emerging Parisian
imprint Void Records. Building on this momentum, she recently landed on the
label of Isabel Soto - now familiar with playing for the Berghain dancefloor -
signaling her emergence as a notable producer within her generation.
