Created by producers & DJs Dori Sadovnik & Niv Arzi, Red Axes constantly defies classification while remaining a stalwart of the dance music scene beginning with the launch of “Break It!” an underground psychedelic electronic party series in Tel-Aviv in 2009. Red Axes have helped dancers around the world bridge the intersecting tastes between rock and electronic music, and are known for their dozens of EPs and albums across the last ten years as well as recent outings via Redrago (alongside DJ Tennis).Arriving hot on the heels of their latest EP for Phantasy Sound titled “Some Lights,” their mix for Bolting Bits showcases their singular vision – merging a kaleidoscopic range with driving tempos that demand listeners lean in and participate. In addition, Dori and Niv have been kind enough to answer some questions from the Bolting Bits team to learn more about their selections and how they’re envisioning the future of their long-standing project.

After a first volume released in September 2020 on Hard Fist, Argentinian Balam comes with “Chants of Pachamama (Part. 2)”, including a remix by Matias Aguayo.

This time Balam focuses on the experience around the ritual of magic plants that is practiced in the deep South-American rainforest. By mixing modular synth, stromping basslines, haunting vocals and real played percussions produced in his studio “Submarea” in Buenos Aires, he recreates a psychedelic trip from beginning to end.

@jitterparty invite Gabe : (@joilafrique) is the co-creator/organiser of Apricot Ballroom (@apricotballroom), an audiophile party based in Sheffield, UK. He's an obsessive digger and collector of both records and speakers, and is usually found digging through dusty shelves and shops for rare vintage pieces of both kinds.
Having been DJing since 2009 he's been involved with a variety of projects focusing on different styles in that time, but really found his feet in starting Apricot Ballroom with best friend Dave (Nonna Fab). The party focuses on displaying obscure and interesting music of all varieties through a beautiful vintage audiophile sound system in a high energy club setting.
The party and its hosts have gone from strength to strength lately, having started a mix series and record label over the last two years, the two becoming regular fixtures at some of the UK's best boutique festivals, and the monthly parties regularly packing out their chosen home of Bal Fashions in Sheffield.

In December 2022, SOULMEEX made its debut with a mix curated by his founder and showrunner, DCSIS. The inaugural track featured in the series was "Kalam Hub" by Moving Still, one of the six cuts from his EP on Palms Trax label, CWPT. It was inevitable that he would be showcased in our PRO series sooner or later.

Hailing from Jeddah but finding his musical home in Dublin, Jamal Sul has become a force to be reckoned with in the world of electronic music. Since his debut in 2016 with a mixtape for the Irish collective wherethetimegoes, Jamal has consistently pushed boundaries and captivated audiences worldwide.

In 2019, his debut EP "With Oud" on Nail Shop Records garnered support from Resident Advisor, while his collaboration with Dar Disku Records birthed bass-heavy edits like "Bas Ismaa Meny" and the contagious "Sidi Mansour (Moving Still Edit)". Premiered by Mixmag, these tracks found their way into the sets of esteemed DJs like Hunee or Skatebård.

His vinyl-only EP "Inta Min Feen?" in 2020 continued to showcase Moving Still's versatility, with tracks like "Bint Al Sa7ra" earning praise from audiences and climbing to the top of Rush Hour's charts. Collaborations with Dutch producer Tjade and releases like "Tafadal تفضل" on Jive Hive Records in 2021 further solidified his status as a boundary-pushing artist.

With his 2022 EP "Kalam Hub" on CWPT mentioned in the first paragraph, Moving Still delivered his most personal offering yet. Tracks like "Kunafa King" and "La Titasil Feeya" showcased his ability to blend melody and techno, earning him spots on Spotify editorial playlists and cementing his status as a future pioneer in the electronic music landscape.

Since then, he’s been actively performing across various countries throughout Europe, collaborating with several radio stations and mix series, and, of course, sharing exceptional edits on his social media platforms as well as through labels such as Disco Arabesque.

This week on Select, we have a special set from Dublin-based Saudi-born maestro Moving Still marking THREE HUNDRED episodes of our exclusive mix series 🎉 

Expect a pumping mix of bass, italo disco and house, featuring some of his personal favourite Arabic tunes. Simply put, this is what a DJ set by Moving Still at peak time would sound like.

Jamal Sul, or as his stage name goes, Moving Still, is a veteran DJ and producer who has carved a distinct authentic niche in the electronic music scene. His sound marries the oud-scented energy of traditional Arabic sounds with grumbling italo-esque basslines and groovy house beats. 

He is known for his HINRG productions and edit of Cheba Yamina’s ‘Sidi Mansour’, as well as tracks like ‘Al Disco Haram’, which not only topped the Rush Hour charts but also resonated with high-profile DJs, becoming a staple in sets around the globe. His releases have been featured on various globally renowned labels such as Cooking with Palms Trax and Dar Disku.

"I really wanted this mix to represent as much of my musical world as possible, it's a journey through the different sounds I love and play. I think for a while, there was an assumption about what I play in my sets, but the truth is, my sets change all the time. Every party has its own energy, its own crowd, and there’s just so much music out there that deserves to be heard. This mix was my way of showing that range, from emotional and unexpected moments to heavier club gear."

Whispered words from the ancient earth. The biosphere metaphorically battered by dusty drum machines, synth swept landscapes, industrial hooks that ring out from the barren outback. Was is das?
Die Orangen are Australian-expats Kris Baha and Dreems, and together they have crafted a genre: "Krautback." Rooted in indigenous psychedelia, resonating the vast expanses of the island of Gondwanaland, turnt up by progressive cultures, and multiplied by the logic of the German mind.
Hear the sound of the Southern sun melt genres, feel it flow downstream into a languid ocean of sound. 
Beware the punch of the red kangaroo, a bite from the deadly taipan, the neon stare in a tree-frogs eye, and the bleached siren call of the coral reef - these wild sonic reveries ominously soundtrack the future that nature has in store.

Something unexpected is coming your way - our family member Serial Experiments has teamed up with one of the producers of the year (or five years in a row at least?) Tolouse Low Trax, and the outcome is this weird number, coming out September 15th on both vinyl and digital. The latest Ant Bangos Festival podcast is provided by a young lady with a beautiful soul. Kaunas-based @gemayelsandra is a resident at the city’s famous Lizdas club. Seems like this was not enough for a breakthrough dj as 2020 brought her New Blood title at friendly Opium. Now it’s time to take a trip to the seaside with Sandra. Her groovy selection for an extended summer weekend in Nida sounds just great.
