Is it the stark injustices that make us human?
Is it our seeming inability to atone for our own wrongs that makes us susceptible to brokenness?
Human incompetence makes us long for something greater than ourselves.
Who are we? Millions of aimless souls searching for purpose? Discovering only the human insufficiency that is so prevalent in our self-sufficient world. 
That unsatisfactory truth makes us reach out, grasping at anything that promises fulfillment. Hopelessness, pain, misery, death; lives cut short because of the war that rages within. Refugees, orphans, rejects, widows; what is the purpose? The lies we force down, the malice we choose to accept. 
Our self-contempt and longing for a justice and truth that seems unattainable makes us cry out. From our misery, brokenness and shame. A desperate cry, focused on ourselves and our hopelessness; unknowingly mimicked by thousands thinking they’re alone.
But the truth is, we’re not alone. There’s a war raging on inside every one of us, and this war is for our souls. There is an eternal battle within us, and every choice we make either draws us closer to, or pushes us away from our maker. This fight creates a cacophony that quenches our unique song, but as we grasp the rock, as we reach out with open arms and experience his love and joy, we are made whole. The incessant qualm that affects us acts as backdrop as we gaze at the face of our Lord.
