The sudden death of rock drummer Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) prompted me to write this song. While preparing for a live performance, life may abruptly end, symbolized by the lyrics “a snare without a rhythm”.
Arpeggiated flat5/major7 chords open the song, creating an uneasy feel as if something is about to happen. The unexpected song's ending symbolizes that “fate cut another ribbon”.
