Bay 6 Recordings' sister label Calibrate Records continue to impress with their high-octane mix of 'rolling beats, breaks and bass', drawing for that at maximum capacity here. We've witnessed the likes of Madusea, label boss Echo Motion, Rozfresh and more crop up on the imprint, who are pushing forward and going from strength to strength with each passing release. Now, they've locked the exciting, Chicago-based beatsmith Johnathan Thomas for a cracking 2-tracker, further embedding their commitment to driving a different sound than the sonics you can find over on Bay 6. It's a supreme, educated take on the vintage sound, evidenced in all its glory on 'A Vibe', a striking ode to the junglist, breakbeat era.

With a deep-rooted background in drum & bass, Komodo is known for delivering captivating sets that navigate a range of intricate rhythms and sounds. His journey started after discovering Brisbane’s underground DNB scene and outdoor events in SEQ, which had him hooked immediately and ignited his passion to start mixing. These grassroot gatherings and events still guide his musical evolution—and keeps him grounded in the community that inspired him.

Over the years, he developed his sound and style, crafting journeys that flow through genres such as DNB, 140 and halftime. Komodo has shared the stage with international artists including Paige Julia, Hypho, PAV4N, S.P.Y., General Levy, Mungo’s Hifi, and Halogenix, and performed at notable festivals including Imbolc in South Australia, Initiation Festival over New Year's Eve in 2023, and Archaic Gathering in North Queensland. With each set he remains committed to evolving, looking for ways to creatively push boundaries and deliver captivating performances.
