Let's go back to Goa! We are happy to open our Masters of Psytrance series with a mix by DJ Asherun featuring great music from the mid 90s, the golden years of Goa Trance. DJ Asherun has been DJing and organizing parties in Goa since the mid 90s, and went on to play around the globe, run his own label, Dance N Dust, and was one of the first to spread the Scandinavian Psy-sound. 
The new Masters of Psytrance monthly series will feature legendary Psytrance musicians or groups each month and supply you with an introduction to their music, story, history, and more.

Purple Hexagon Records delivers ONDREJ PSYLA’s new DJ mix.

Ondrej is an experienced dj who has been active in the psytrance scene since 2004.
As the label manager of Mystical Waves Records, he has promoted many prolific producers, releasing 8 compilations, managing artists bookings for the Digital Forest Festival and organising parties in Czechoslovakia. With a passion for old classics and for finding new sounds to bring to the dancefloor, Ondrej regularly plays at festivals across Europe. In his sets he transmits the best of his rich and forever expanding collection of music, mixing beats ranging from 140 bpm (progressive psy) to 152 bpm (night psytrance).
He joined Purple Hexagon Rec. as a label dj in 2019, bringing with him his wide knowledge of psytrance music and his long experience in connecting artists and dancefloors in East Europe and beyond.

In case you missed the Moon Mountain Farewell Livestream Event, here is my Boom Shankar set in full length.

It's actually a BMSS Records showcase featuring some of the upcoming and still unreleased highlights which will come out in the next months, so you can get a good taste of the direction we are taking with the label and as well the style I prefer to play right now. The set pays respect to the full power vibe of the Asian underground, so expect a high octane psychedelic roller coaster ride.

Some background info: for 17 years Moon Mountain Party has been one of Asia's best kept secrets in terms of underground events. The gathering took place on a floating village made out of 2-story rafts all toed together on Kanchanaburi lake in central Thailand and featured the creme de la creme of Asia based artists and our fellow trance-travel community. I will be forever thankful to all those amazing people who took part in our event and who turned it into one of my annual touring highlights!

Massive thanx and respect to Nun, Papa, Jacky, Eddy, Radzy, Sabai Sabai, Ton, Tom, Tommy, John Lee, Ssongg, Koi, to my BMSS family, EPIC Tribe, Spirit Zone, Blue Moon Productions, Purple Hexagon, Goa Productions and all the other artists and freaks who took part in this special gathering. Please enjoy our DJ mixes featuring various artists in various styles and the show cases of our own music (also in various styles). OOOD (aka Out Of Our Depth) will be a familiar name to both those with long memories, and to relative newcomers to Psychedelic trance ( and many other genres). Formed in the UK in 1994 and with 4 members since 2001 (Colin, Steve, Rama, Ryokan), they've been around for as long as there's been psytrance and have worked with many of the names and labels from the scene's long history, as well as producing some of Goa Trance's classic tracks on labels like Flying Rhino, Phantasm and Matsuri. A few quiet years in the early 2000s saw them retreat to the Stooodio after their first two albums were caught up in the bankruptcy of two different distributors but they never gave up, and their eclectic third album 'Free Range' (Organic, 2006) was regarded by many reviewers as one of the very best psytrance releases that year. Two years later they released 'Fourthought' (Phar Psyde, 2008), an 80-minute psychedelic journey through downtempo, breaks, electro, blues and a varied selection of psytrance; again the album attracted '11/10 A+' reviews and saw them consolidate their place as one of the few acts from the birth of the scene who are still actively contributing. Recent releases have seen them reach high positions in various download charts, with their Oddball EP (Broken Robot, 2010) reaching #1 on Trackitdown and #13 on Beatport. Their fifth album 'You Think You Are' was released on Vertigo Records in late 2012.

As well as the originality, sense of fun and excellent production they bring to their releases, OOOD have been praised for their live sets since their London debut in 1995. Now, with four people in the band they are unique for the way they use live instruments (guitar, drums, keyboards, percussion) as an integral part of their live set, and have gained a reputation for both the power and quality of their live sound, and the vibrancy of their performances. Events such as Boom (Portugal), Universo Paralello (Brazil), Fusion (Germany), Glade (UK) and Vortex (South Africa), and many others in Japan, Russia and across Europe and elsewhere are seeing how OOOD and their side-projects create a unique energy and connection with the audience. OOOD shroom live is different every time but these guys know what they're doing and they put on a hell of a show.

OOOD have been surfing the wave of their creativity for over 23 years now and have been described as having "matured and improved with time, in the manner of a fine wine" (Axis Mundi). Their mission has always been to have a good time, spread a little joy and write the best tunes they can; if you've heard them or seen them recently you'll know just how well they are succeeding.
