For each Sunday's guest mix, and in turn mix, a special emphasis is put on having that personal feeling or touch. Those mornings can be particularly poignant and I believe capturing that in sound adds an edge to music chosen.

With that in mind, Barcelona based Rodrigo Garcia has crafted a delightfully deep hour-long mix as he puts it, ‘to investigate your interior.’ Those not familiar with the name, Garcia is the musical director of Diffuse Reality, Teorema Festival and Periphylla. His mixes and productions range throughout the lands of Techno and beyond, much like the breadth of the mix he’s presenting today. A ‘special session of ambient sounds, drones, with textures and atmospheres to relax the mind, body and soul’.

In the 16th episode of the #Sonogramma podcast dedicated to ambient and experimental music from the @ssi-records label, the curator of the podcast, Ilia @symphocat, presents the mix that includes meditative compositions by the Moscow-based project 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐈𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲.

On the path of creative research, the musical project July in January constantly returns to the enveloping form of melancholic memories and sentimental moods, exploring their personal anxious experiences and states. The track called "This night I met Gianluigi Gasparetti", which is the main motive of the podcast, was recorded by the author in one night in the long improvise session. The created musical structure is dedicated to the legendary Gianluigi Gasparetti (Oöphoi), who became, for July In January, a pioneer in Drone music and had a great influence on sound thinking. Also in the podcast there are several tracks from the album "In Memory for Everyone Who Disappeared" released early on SSI label and which was recorded in live improvisational sessions during pandemic 2020.

Sonogramma Podcast #16 – July In January

In the seventeenth issue of the Sonogramma podcast that is dedicated to ambient and experimental music released by the @ssi-records label, the curator of the podcast, Ilia @symphocat presents a mix full of tracks by the Moscow-based composer and sound designer ITSU.

To get to know the guest of the podcast in details, it is worth telling that Artem Markarian is behind the moniker ITSU — a musician who interacts with various forms and many genres of electronic music. Each album of the musician is certainly conceptual and deeply explores the given topics through various emotional and associative feelings. We can say that ITSU creates music in the field of IDM, where great attention is paid not only to the general shape of each track, but also to the smallest details in the sound. Also, characteristic part of ITSU is the use of analog and modular synthesizers in combination with processed field recordings and voices.

The list of the podcast includes tracks from "Autoscopy" that was released earlier on the Simphonic Silence Inside, "Digital Consciousness" that was released on Diffuse Reality Records and also from the "Requiem" release.
