CHAPTER II: THE ARRIVAL

The ritual is at its very peak. The atrocities you've witnessed will haunt you for the rest of your days. Nothing can compare to the horrors you've beheld this night, and yet, you can feel that this is far from over.

Drums boom and the very air crackles with those unholy words that flow from the cursed tongues of your fellow mankind, words no lips were meant to utter. Beyond the echo of these rapturous heathens, you hear something further in the woods. Deep, booming thuds that seem to resonant to your core. A sense of dread and fear falls upon you like you've never experienced before.

Suddenly, at the edge of the clearing, you behold the purest of monstrosities. Great hooves stamp the earth beneath it, while twisting feelers reach towards the night sky. Mouths and eyes cover its horrid form, and though you wish to turn from this sight, your body refuses to budge even in the slightest. 

As you try to grapple with the horror before, other similar eldritch horrors begin emerging from the woods. Warped satyrs from Greek myth, humanoid amalgamations, and Goat-like creatures of nightmare intermix among the already raucous throng. The drums beat louder and it seems the very fabric of your reality begins to twist.

Your sanity has finally snapped. You rise from your hiding place and against everything that would've previously stopped you, walk into the throbbing, monstrous crowd. Nothing seems to notice you, not even those eldritch abominations. You are at one with the beings around you. You are a part of them.

Amidst the terrors and chaos around you, the shredded remains of your once sane mind catch hold of one thing. The ever growing boom in the distance. You know it to be one thing, the Goddess herself. The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young. She is coming, in all of her terrible and splendid beauty.
