Partnering with the Barcelona-based Mostra Festival to showcase some of the recorded sets during their second edition. Mostra is an independent small-format festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music held in Barcelona on Easter weekend. Nathalia's set was showcased on the first day of performances at Castell de Montjuïc, an emblematic landmark in Barcelona with incredible views of the whole city.

Yes, folks, I am still rejoicing in last year. What can I say – I love to listen to great music, especially when it’s picked by someone else. And not just anyone – a trusted source! Ryan Griffin and I go back more than a decade now. Secretly, I’m even jealous of his capacity to operate one of the best labels on the scene today. At times, I toyed with the idea of starting a label too – but then, when would I have the time to write these words and share this music? And so, I leave it to the rest. For this annual entry in the Reflections series, we spend three hours (!) in the company of 42+ tracks selected by your reliable guide of A Strangely Isolated Place, where you will surely find new gems and inspirations. Zero Cult is the project of Emil Ilyayev from Israel, who has been producing electronic music for well over a decade. The project was born in 2003 after discovering the new sound of downtempo and chill out music in the underground scene. Emil's music has a unique sound, that combines mysterious melodies and vibes with downtempo beats. His debut album "Art of Harmony" was described as the best chill album of 2006. Combining carefully designed textures with dreamlike atmospheres and a solid rhythmic structure, Zero Cult sends us on a new journey through his original musical universe. His discography is a collection of contemporary ambient gems, that demands frequent listening and will surprise you with new sounds bursting out from nowhere. DJ MAGGIE brings you this "Fizziology" titled DJ set about which she says: "The majority of this mix was recorded live as an opening set for Moontribe's New Year's Day Vibe 2024 in Los Angeles. Since I ended that set with unreleased music, I trimmed the last two tracks and added two tracks to the beginning in the studio. Some new music mixed with some classic favorites!" DJ Maggie carefully curates the best of downtempo electronic into lush, playful and deeply replenishing sets that invite listeners on shimmering audio odysseys. For this month’s chapter of our Podcast Series, we are incredibly proud to welcome Fhionbarra. Barry is a London-based DJ who has been turning heads with his commendably curated and finely executed sets across the city’s experimental ambient & dance music undergrowth and beyond ✨

A real tour-de-force of concept-driven DJing, this is a live recording of Fhionbarra’s mesmerising set from a recent Hardcore Chillout event where the loose concept of the evening was based on ‘Apparent Motion’ – that is, the perceptual illusion in cinema where still frames of film, viewed in quick succession, give the appearance of motion 🎞️

The mix is an interpretation of this concept with the first section taking a scene-setting, atmospheric tone alongside some narrative elements. This is followed by a middle section where time appears stretched or distorted – a reference to the space in between frames where our senses play tricks on us. The final section (or ‘third act’) returns to more overtly narrative territory, finishing with a cinematic flourish 📽️

For our 38th installment of the Rusted Rhythms series, Rust family favorites pheel. and parkbreezy have resurrected their Featherbed set to showcase loads of original tracks and a few choice flips and remixes. Co-founders of the all.Lo label, and the brains behind the Morning Coffee project, these two producer/dj's have their fingers on the pulse of trip-hop's many varieties, creating their signature blends through an infusion head-nod fundamentals with ample servings of saturated bass weight.

Right from the jump, they zero in on the vibe of the hour, delivering smooth cuts of collaged melodies and brackish drum breaks. Their own individual styles meet at the nexus of broken beats and juiced-up sub frequencies, balancing the high of a listening experience with the pull of a physical experience. They were even gracious enough to mix in a Groovsauce track, courtesy of their live project with Thought Process. Through and through, Rusted Rhythms Vol. 38 is a gift to both heads in the know and new fans alike, with the simple assurance that you'll be coming back for more as soon as you finish your first serving.
