The release blends introspective meditativeness with dancefloor-ready energy - a balance between home listening and club environments. 2529KM Records is a new dub techno label created by two friends and artists – Piotr Bejnar aka N1KT (Warsaw, PL) and Leon Lolishvili aka Boyd Schidt (Tbilisi, GE).

2529 KM stands for the distance between Warsaw and Tbilisi. The idea of the label to release compilations with artists from different countries and nationalities. Through music the label wants to unite different cultures and to create a group of friends all over the world, who support themselves in music and life.

The first release 2529KM 001 is the compilation from Idealist (Switzerland) - producer, DJ and label owner of Idealistmusic, Stojche (Macedonia) - Berlin-based artist who’s primarily inspired of the local electronic scene in Skopje, Boyd Schidt (Georgia) - one of the leading techno artists in Georgia, founder of 2529KM and N1KT (Poland) – new techno alias from the owner of 2529 KM and Otake Records.

Having only a scant few releases to its name, L.B. Dub Corp, one of Luke Slater's lesser used guises, slinks in and out of the scene, dropping off quality EP's and remixes when you least expect it. Finding a new and appropriate home on Ostgut, the Take It Down (In Dub) EP has two spacey hitters. A slappy bass, a noise wash, and a growling kick are what kick off the title track, slowly giving way to a slightly pitched down vocal drop of "take it down." 

Not nearly as high in the BPM's as Slater's Planetary Assault System productions, "Take It Down" is a slyly warping beast. It has a pristine sludge to it that begs for an eyes-closed demonic shuffle, its brooding drone perfect for early hour madness. More than halfway through, though, the entire thing shifts to reveal a grimey, rinsed out synth that opens the entire 11+ minutes of the track up to a new feel and intensity. 

Where things really get interesting is on flipside "It's What You Feel." One of the most inviting basslines in a while partners with a steady synth pad for a cleverly produced house track. A steady groove paves the way for a classic piano line summoned from Chicago. This B-side monster is the perfect counterpart to the A, and makes this one of Slater's best efforts since his PAS EP on Ostgut last year.

The charismatic whirlwind Rocky Valente dishes up a three-track EP of varying techno feels featuring a high octane rework from Mark Reeve, on Pig & Dan's ELEVATE.

The Amsterdam based DJ and Producer strides through on the A-side with a 4/4 driving peak time monster entitled ‘The Revolution’. Shuffling hi-hats over a tight, rolling kick drum provide the pace with reverberating synth effects and subdued arpy basslines filling the corners of the track. ‘Anxiety’ features the dubby soundscapes often associated with deep Berlin dub-techno. The filtering echoes contrast the hard panning of the chord loop and are all locked in by her distinctive drum loops.

Mark Reeve remixes the A, providing an up-tempo driver that fills the sonic spectrum with crisp percussive drums and oscillating basslines. The huge melodic lines that chime in bring forward a cavernous breakdown that will stop dancers in their tracks momentarily before throwing them back into his deep grooves.

‘Berghain Fünfzehn’ sees @Luke-Slater creating new compositions from the Ostgut Ton back catalogue, chopping, looping tweaking and deploying sounds into a mix that is both a playful retrospective of the label and future-facing vision for mixing and dance music.

On April 17, seven exclusive tracks from the ‘Berghain Fünfzehn’ DJ mix will be released on two 12”s and for streaming/digital download. De- and reconstructing the Ostgut Ton discography, Slater’s vision encompasses not only sampling but live electronics and improvisation, resulting in a broad spectrum of heady and liminal dance music: from ultra stripped-back mindfuck techno, vocals and blasts of distortion to breakbeat excursions, minimalistic acid, and rave polyrhythms. In other words: the arc of the label through Slater’s singular hallucinatory prism.
