Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Planet E, Four:Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous and Desolat. He’s also put his sonic thumbprint on many big ticket artists, notably receiving a Grammy nomination for a Tori Amos remix in 2003. Such diverse musical horizons are rare. While other prolific artists may have slowly watered down their music, Buttrich’s star has risen in diametric opposition. His vision has become more and more condensed, more and more crystallised. Flipping and puncturing grooves in a live setting is a snap for him, and he’s entranced audiences at festivals like Time Warp and Creamfields, at temples of boom such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), Cocoon (Frankfurt), Panorama Bar (Berlin) and Amnesia (Ibiza) and at worldwide Desolat Experience parties with Loco Dice.

Buttrich’s journey into electronic music began in clubs in Berlin and Hannover at the dawn of the ‘90s, when post-Summer of Love-Europe began to swing to its own hypnotic, machine-like groove. At 18 years old he began experimenting with production as X-Rotation (with Daniel Bross), which led to the projects Rhythm Assault, Sounds of Life and Phunk Diggazs (with engineer Andy Bolleshon).

Buttrich began a notorious collaboration with his then co-worker at Peppermint Jam distribution, Timo Maas, in the mid-‘90s (they worked the telephones together). After setting up his first studio in the basement of the Peppermint Park studio building, the partnership led to over 100 co-productions and remixes that included Madonna, Muse, Fatboy Slim. Josh Wink and Green Velvet. Buttrich has produced funk legend Bootsy Collins, while switching the patterns for artists including Tom Jones, Kelis, Moloko, Depeche Mode, Placebo, Yello, War and Roger Sanchez. His Azzido Da Bass “Dooms Night” remix with Timo Maas hit the UK top ten charts.
 
All the while he created an impressive library of beats and collected an arsenal of music production equipment for his studio in Timetools, a studio complex founded in 1997 in Hannover with a group of musicians. Buttrich is happy with the subtle crunch of an SP-12 sampler and the ‘smoky’ vibe of his analog mixing desk – adding a bass guitar or other instrument when necessary. But he’s not above having fun with a laptop either: approaching music programs as if they were video games. He doesn’t rely on any one machine or music composition technique, and his array of outboard gear is mouth-wateringly state of the art.
But he never loses touch with the gritty, human side of music, and the environments that it is played in.

Another key musical partnership, with Loco Dice, begun in 2002, undoubtedly inspired Buttrich to delve deeper into the musical histories that first lured him towards after-dark melodies. In a short space of time they’d built up a deep discography creating an era-defining sound in the process. They spent more than half a year living in New York in 2006/2007, with half of Buttrich’s studio set up in a rickety hideaway in Brooklyn that looked out over Manhattan’s vistas. Between late night production sessions and snowstorms, their Desolat label came to life.

Having his debut solo album Crash Test released on Desolat in early 2010, Martin Buttrich is taking his vision to the road, fusing wild imagination with solid musical architecture, cherry-picked inspiration with true perfection of his musical craft. 

Since then constantly on tour, in 2011 Martin Buttrich still has dropped a remarkable collection of music - productions like “Fire Files” EP on Desolat or remixes for Marco Carola and Lee Curtis amongst others.

Currently based in LA, Martin Buttrich is working on his second artist album and a jazz project called The Stoned Autopilot.

With 20 years of experience at the forefront of the underground scene, DJ Samer is to progressive house what strawberries are to cream: utterly essential! His label, Pangea Recordings continues to build on his legacy being charted and played continually by the scenes elite DJ. And the no signs of slowing down, DJ Samer is in the prime of his life right now.

Like many in the underground dance community, Samer Salhab’s musical journey began with a place: Club Simon’s in Gainesville, Florida. For the bright-eyed young music fanatic, Club Simon’s acted as a catalyst for his passion for underground House music, fueled by discovering a world of super talented artists and a new desire to collect their tracks and weave sonic stories of his own through DJing. After hard work and tons of practice, things started to come together for Samer. He left Gainesville for Tampa to finish his education, but took his love for dance music with him. His growing collection of House, Progressive, and Trance began to form a style that became known in the local club scene in Ybor City - the center of Tampa's nightlife. There, his he began to catch the ears of club goers and he slowly started making a name for himself.

Samer’s chance meeting with Bill Vines (The Maji) at Chakra Records, Tampa kick started his career into overdrive. Bill’s mentoring gave Samer a good grounding in production and DJing. They also set up Pangea Recordings. Working together as Evrydaydowers, they began to pick up gigs across Tampa which lead to them producing their first EP - A New Beginning. “Quality wise, this was a first production, but I remember receiving a compliment from Brother Brown at the WMC. Being that he was one of my heroes, that's when I knew we were heading in the right direction,” Samer says. The early 00s proved to be a very successful time for Samer but soon he began to look further afield at the bright lights of California. In 2002 he finally made the move to San Diego and slowly began to build his name in the local scene warming up for luminary international DJs. Aside from his own personal success, Pangea’s influence was further enhanced by the likes of Sasha regularly playing and charting their releases, indeed, Samer recalls a surreal moment at WMC 2003 where he heard Sasha drop “This World” (Pangea’s first globally distributed release) to a highly receptive Miami crowd. With the success of Pangea Recordings, Samer decided to expand Pangea by creating sister labels Pangea UK, 1Shot Recordings, and digital spawns for them as well. “The San Diego scene was pretty chill compared to LA and San Francisco, which allowed me to get a lot of work done and allowed me to release more records.” Samer says, “Also, I got so many great demos it was tough to stay focused on just progressive music. I needed another outlet to release other types of tunes, and that’s why we formed the sister labels.”

Unfortunately, Samer and Bill have decided to take different paths in recent times, but this hasn’t slowed Samer down as he now DJing across the country at some of the best parties on the planet; from Ultra, Miami with Deadmau5, Sasha and John Digweed to Love Fest in San Francisco and beyond. These days, Samer is concentrating more on his original productions and writing music under his own name. He has signed solo outings and remixes on very well respected international labels such as Spundae Music, Baroque Records, Old SQL and more. Samer’s podcast – Pangea Recordings Podcast - has aided him in pushing his sound to a worldwide audience with thousands of devoted and faithful listeners. It is safe to say that Samer is still one of America’s most exciting DJs and producers. 20 years in the making, DJ Samer is still that wide eyed music fan looking forward to the weekend where his favorite DJs spin the greatest music in the World at Club Simons.

Long-time friends Darren Rees and Sebastian Markiewicz are the creative minds behind the brand new electronic music entity, Brookland.  

Their respective solo music careers span three decades, both highlighted by releases on John Digweed's illustrious record label, Bedrock Records, and interspersed with infrequent but hugely successful collaborative works.  Support has come from all corners of the globe - Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo; the list reads like a who's who of the scene's most influential players.  The team are now brought together for a more closely intertwined, long-term project.

The debuting 'Ninth Planet' collection was immediately snapped up by legendary Fade Records, for Chris Fortier’s ‘The Next We’ compilation.  The tracks have also enjoyed ongoing support by all the leading tastemakers.  This is just the beginning of an exciting phase for the duo, and a very busy 2021 is expected.  Stay tuned!

There are few individuals within the underground dance music industry able to match Chris Fortier for both influence and achievement over the last two decades. With a mandate predicated upon the deceptively simple notion of "constant musical evolution", the founder and owner of the globally renowned Fade Records, is not constrained by boundaries, reflected in both the music he plays and creates.

An extensive list of achievements is testament to such elevated ideals, perhaps best showcased by the iconic 2005 "Balance 007" compilation; a groundbreaking CD at the vanguard of a fresh, innovative and underground sound movement, that history would later record as an aural blueprint for the worldwide dance music explosion that followed in the subsequent decade and beyond. A further eight commercially released mix albums would also contain the Chris Fortier DNA.

As a production artist, Fortier's portfolio of skills have been crafted and honed through an intimate 20-year knowledge of clubs across the globe's dance-floor capitals – from Tokyo, Melbourne, Mexico City to Budapest and Buenos Aires to residencies at the legendary AAHZ in Orlando in the early 90’s through to New York's Twilo and London's The Cross. Always in demand and prolific in output, a continually rising 400 plus Beatport production credits tell only half of an impressive story. Fortier's remix of Delerium's "Silence", was the first and original remix and sold in excess of one million copies worldwide; while work for John Digweed's Bedrock imprint further cemented an ever-growing reputation alongside the full-length album, "As Long As The Moment Exists" and its follow-up remix album on behemoth Australian imprint, EQ.

Never one to rest on his proverbial laurels, Chris' productions have seen him take on the mantle of highly regarded modern producer with releases spanning the underground sound including most recently on Bedrock, Selador, Balance, Mooseeka, Tulipa, Maya, Manual, Ground Factory, Maktub, Mindwarp and his own imprint Fade. His remixes and collaborations since 2009 tell their own tale, as Chris remains as integral, relevant and at the leading edge in the Underground as ever. With an innate and immaculate sense of what makes the industry tick, built upon longstanding personal experience, Fortier's musical evolution shows no sign of extinction.
