A song about conflict in love. I wrote this song as an ode to 1980s synth-pop and studied many of the classics of the time like Eurthymics, A-ha, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, Bonnie Tyler... I think you get the idea. It is also vaguely inspired by Lana Del Rey.

After a very long and stressful day, I sat down at a piano to spend some time with the Lord. After noodling for a little bit, I started to play/sing the melody of what is now the chorus, lyrics came shortly after. I remember I sang that simple chorus over and over, it really felt like an overflow of my heart before Jesus. My prayer is that this song would speak to you, no matter who you are or what season of life you are in!

This is a piece exploring the nature of privilege and the irony of it as well. Both the fortunate and unfortunate are taken advantage of by those who can profit off our misery. We are enticed to enter the void, and at this point, it's one place we know we can all find each other. We search for community in isolation, both actively and passively in consequence to the lack of humanity shown to us in the structures through which we live. We are encouraged to dehumanize either side of the spectrum , though both are social constructs, and everyone ends up left in the darkness. The system built to help us can't keep up with either itself or us. Stastical sacrificial lambs. But if we can see it, we can change it. We can choose to live in the light. okay bye.
