What better way to celebrate Friday the 13th and the spooky season of the year than to do a frightful bootleg of an iconic tune.

Freaks follow up their release, Right Now featuring Robert Owens " with another exciting single on Rebirth. This time Luke Solomon and Justin Harris team up with Diz aka 012 to reinterpret the Womack & Womack classic ! In the words of Freaks, "We first started recording this record around 6 years ago. Originally to a live drum track. The track started off as a straight cover, then eventually was stripped down and remixed effectively. Diz used to stay with us quite a bit in London and around the time that we first recorded the vocals we had been listening to a lot of Funkadelic, The Style Council and this. Diz started singing it in the car and we just decided to record it for fun. It just seemed to work so well, probably because Diz really understood the soul of the track and captured it in the delivery of his vocals. We then added some backing vox and stripped that back and ended up with this version...The album, 'Conscience', that we took it from, is one of our all time faves " The one and only Henrik Schwarz also serves up a strong remix and dub with his trademark warm sound, piano, synth and acid bassline ! Magic and epic at the same time... From Germany Johnny D reworks the song with his special groove and vibe ! Already tried and tested by Gilles Peterson in the last month....... this is a another monster tune from the Freaks stable.

From time to time, a new name will appear on the scene with a unique, standout sound that commands people at all levels of the industry to sit up and take notice. Following two sold-out EPs on his vinyl-only imprint, Semi Delicious, UK producer Demi Riquísimo is one such example and on the 9th August he’ll be teaching another lesson on how to ignite the dancefloor with his third release of the year: 54 Reasons EP.

Another four-track, tour-de-force fusion of house, disco and electro, the 54 Reasons EP opens with ‘Bow UFO’ – an upbeat, percussive Disco-fused banger on which Demi gives us a taste of summer by bringing in synthy notes and adding an acidic edge to the track. A2’s ‘Anxious Elephants’ neatly follows on with its deeper, darker sonics, a groove-filled bassline and hypnotic lyrics, topped off with warm pads and soft flute instruments to perfectly balance things out. Flipping over the wax and you’ll find two more on-point cuts: ‘Point One’ delivers with its effortlessly rolling, Disco-tinged groove, as ’54 Reasons’ closes out the EP In a big way, leaving listeners with no questions regarding the enviable talent on display throughout Demi’s productions.

Just a few months after the release of his debut EP, Demi has already amassed the kind of support that seasoned veterans can only hope for – multiple plays of every track from SEMID002 on BBC Radio 1 by Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Eats Everything, and DJ support that includes names like Skream, Optimo, Dusky, Ậme, Horse Meat Disco and even Busy P who described it as “just perfect”. With the diary now filling up with sets at Glastonbury, El Dorado and Gottwood this summer, before an Autumn run of the UK’s biggest club events, 2019 is certainly shaping up to be a game changer for the mysterious Demi Riquísimo.

After releasing the ‘High Life' remixes just before summer and their more electronic EP on Aus Music, it’s time to get label heads Detroit Swindle back on Heist. They come in with full force, delivering a set of Swindle styled house tracks, accompanied by a jazzy remix by Volcov in his Isoul8 moniker with guest appearances by Kaidi Tatham on keys and Nigel Bennett on vocals.

The EP kicks off with ‘The life behind things’; a life affirming soulful house tune that’s cleverly built around a set of switching organ stabs. The energy in this track keeps on building with the filter slowly opening up while live percussion oozes its way through the track (courtesy of Mauskovic Dance Band member Chris Bruining). After a well working surprise acid break, the track breaks down into a jazzy organ solo by Byron the Aquarius, building up momentum till the full track comes back in for a ecstatic delivery of feel-good dancefloor emotions.
