To close the year 2021, Oddity presents the long awaited various artists, Odd Echoes vol. 5, loaded with hypnotic melodic cuts from new and returning artists.

The V.A, showcases the label's cohesive, yet diverse and evolving melodic sound, with a number of artists brought together to create this magical journey.

Opening the V.A label boss Fur Coat delivers a new collaboration with Alfa Romero, introducing us to the construction of the deepest, most ethereal and melodic sounds, where artists like Adamant, Baime, aacht, Esoteric Circle and Andrea Martini show a coherent crescendo in the timeline of the compilation.

Continuing the story, we can see new names joining the record label like Casper Cole, Rinzen, Jos & Eli, delivering some diverse melancholic yet euphoric cuts.

Digging further into the compilation, sounds like those of the collaboration of Jonas Saalbach and Tantum, or the originals by Remcord, Lexer, SOEL, 19:26, Beswerda, Sascha Breamer bring a touch of darkness that transport us to another dimension in sound.

Last but not least, Aalson, The Element MT, Daijan ft. Running Pine, Black Peters and Jody Barr, present some closing-oriented emotional cuts, with some of them including some breaks or experimenting with some unique synths and textures, to ensure the perfect closure to this story we call Odd Echoes.

London-based John Monkman is the founder of Beesemyer Music but also serves up his rich sounds on Kompakt, Last Night On Earth and Drumcode. He works across multiple styles and as much as making music for the club, he also cooks up richly atmospheric and emotive music. 

He has worked with Pete Tong, Bryan Ferry and Nile Rodgers and when on tour, he plays live in the world's best venues. First up is the immediately arresting 'Perception' with its flashes of synth, whirring drones and textured drums. Spoken words bring a sense of paranoia as twitchy effects, icy percussion and swinging drums all work you into a frenzy. Monkman took inspiration from a Timothy Leary interview for the record envisioning “a phrase repeating with a synthesizer response, in essence a conversation between man & machine”. 

Second cut 'Impulse' is a more groove-driven tune with kicks that rock back and forth under slapping hits. The synth designs are futuristic and the whole vibe is one of intergalactic exploration of the unknown. Both of these hugely accomplished tracks will bring a scene of cinematic drama to any set.

VieL - Vasilis Lampaounas - was born in Greece in 1979. He started his career in 1994 as a radio producer-dj.Exploring several sounds such as acid jazz, soul, ambient, techno and drum' n' bass, nally to be infatuated with electronic music. After that and for a series of years since today he has taken part to many events as a guest or a resident dj in some of the most renown places in Athens. A returning artist to the Particles fold, Dave Leck opens 2024 with a brand-new track as "Opal" shines alongside remixes from Erdi Irmak and Izzet. Debuting on the label in August 2019, "Stardust" was the first of three original EPs that saw Dave Leck hit the ground running. "Primal Connection" followed in early 2020 before "Elevate" completed a trio of outstanding original releases in March 2022. Another two-year gap now sees "Opal" create a mesmerising percussive groove while trademark melodic phrasing sits elegantly above. Immaculately cadenced, open filters provide dancefloor vibrancy that waxes and wanes with subtle intensity. Pausing for breath at the mid-point, the track picks up the pace with a hypnotic arpeggio lighting up the second half atop elements built in earlier movements.

Erdi Irmak is no stranger to Proton catalogues with a raft of original and remix production work on both labels. Over 75 production credits include 7 volumes of the "Hidden Arcadia" series on Proton Music and a raft of original work en route. The full-length album, "You're Either Guilty or Not Guilty" was a Particles highlight in 2014 followed by 2017's "Zero" and remixes for Aeron Aether, Mio & His Flute and Stories Of Others. Now returning to the label for the first time in nearly three years, Erdi Irmak takes "Opal" in a typically majestic direction. Anchored by a heavy beat and vibrant bassline, the cadenced feel of the original is reinterpreted to create a deliciously smooth new groove that intelligently reworks elements from Dave Leck's track. Full of dancefloor energy, spellbinding melodic phrases coruscate over each other in shimmering, interlaced patterns to create an impressive tour de force from the Istanbul-based star.

The final track sees the return of Particles favourite, Izzet. Centred around 2019's "Summer Goodbye", 2021's "Abstract Distortion" and March 2022's "Puncher" EPs, remixes for the likes of Rafa'EL, Pole Folder and Petar Dundov have shown the multiple facets of the Russian's artistry as he now adds to his catalogue with a driving reworking of "Opal". Founded upon a cone-melting sub-bassline, a heavy kick and ticking hi-hats create a heavy-duty groove. Simultaneously, elements from Dave Leck's original are re-envisioned to provide an innovative melodic arrangement. The familiar arpeggio, central to the original makes its presence felt as the track develops, with a delicate tension played out as the melodic and bass phrases pull subtly against each other.

Refracted in multi-coloured arrays with remixes from Erdi Irmak and Izzet, Dave Leck has unearthed another jewel with his "Opal".
