Sonic Interventions presents an exclusive mix for Stegi Radio, offering a one-hour journey into their vibrant universe. Featuring the voices and artistry of those who inspire them most, this broadcast weaves together jazz, desert blues, Brazilian hip-hop, poetry and many more powerful musical expressions that resonate with their shared vision.
Sonic Interventions is a diaspora-futuristic band of interdisciplinary artists from five continents. Emerged in 2020 from the transcultural Berlin Jazz scene, the group unites diverse languages, instruments, rhythms and dance for collective meditation and healing, improvisation and groove.
Since then, the band has established itself as one of Berlin's most acclaimed underground Jazz collectives. Known for inclusive live spectacles, in which moments of meditation and trance rise into heavy grooves, traditional rhythms of the African and Latin American continents coalesce with urban styles such as Hip Hop, Trap and House. The band combines poetry and dance inspired by the cosmos, ancient alchemy and world mythologies. On November 22nd, they released their debut album “Do You Remember?” on Agogo Records.

Andrea Passenger is a passionate lover of all shades of black music with an uncommon sensitivity for particular and intense grooves. This led him to play around Italy, Europe, Japan and alongside luminaries such as Nicky Siano, Theo Parrish, and Gilles Peterson.
His productions and edits on Light Touches, Right Tempo, Dora Exp, Just What The World Needs, are favorites of DJ’s DJs like Mark Grusane, Red Greg, Cami Layé Okun and Darryn Jones.
He runs his own club night ‘Aquario’ inspired by the NYC rooted disco and house scene and the ‘Better Days’ events dedicated to explore the intersections between clubbing and community building.

RA.1000 launches with Theo Parrish, live at fabric: a vanishingly rare club mix from the king of deep crates and impossible transitions.

There are DJ sets and then there are Theo sets. No matter how many times you've caught him in action, every time still feels like the first. Running hot, levels smoking, isolator working over time. You think you know dance music? Think again.

Parrish's debut on the RA Podcast is a milestone for the series, one we've sought for over 15 years. So it was only right that Theo led off our 1000th celebrations. Recorded live at fabric last December as part of RA's party with the London club for their 25th anniversary, this three-hour segment documents the crescendo of his eight-hour marathon. 

The Detroit legend doesn't release mixes often, and when he does, they're usually studio recordings: think NTS shows, his 100% Detroit edition of DJ-Kicks or classic tapes Body (1997) and Methods of Movement (2000). A capture of the Sound Signature boss on the dancefloor is hard to come by.

Sure, there's galvanising build-ups and crowd-pleasers, but laced throughout a Parrish beatdown are rarities designed to shock the system. In a business dominated by marketing, the vinyl master towers above thanks to a relentless hunger for lustrous melodies, moods and textures of all stripes, which he and he alone can fold into an inspiring and exhilarating joyride.

On RA.1000, blissful reggae precedes new wave disco; '80s R&B morphs into synthy techno; bleepy Chicago jack makes way for a poignant vocal ballad. It's Theo through and through. Once again, he proves that anything and everything is possible with the right records.

Inés is a Chicago based DJ, record collector, party organizer, and visual artist. Her interest in dance music was focused during her time working at the renowned underground party Durty Truth, and later through her own party, Work Ethic. She credits mentors Darryn Jones and Mark Grusane (among others) with forming her taste in the more obscure corners of disco and soul, as well as helping her form a relationship with music based in honesty, courage, and trust in the higher power of sound.
Work Ethic remains her labor of love: month after month, Inés and a team of Chicago's best push to keep putting on one of Chicago's most beloved independent parties. The party's notable guests always share one trait: They work hard.
