International Bauer

This is the live recording of my sundowner at Zmar this year. Thanks so much again to @zmarfestival organizers and busy bees for creating this weekend-magic and bringing together one the funniest and loveliest crowd I've played for this year. 

EQing might sound a bit weird - I beg your pardon. I took more care of peoples ears than for the recording. But I tried my best make it edible after and hope it's enjoyable now.

Mix of the Week #507: Eder Discoteca

MFI 30!!!💥 Ecoutes au Vert is thrilled to release this wonderful mix by two seasoned Berlin cats!

@Skism & @Hendrik_Stein probably crossed paths at a smokey Party 15 years ago. Being socialized with all kinds of music and deeply shaped by clubbing in Berlin, both got pretty bored with the Minimal & Tech-House dictatorship of the late 00s.

Starting to upload their own mixes, they became online friends. While @Hendrik_Stein was exploring the roots of club music and got lost in the obscurest realms of Disco, @Skism had a long-time addiction with Kosmische, Ambient and German Psychedelics, filed under Krautrock.

Since both of them are busy bees in the music and media worlds, it took another 10 years until they finally shared the decks at the @pastforward show on Cashmere Radio. A while after, they received a very unusual donation by an anonymous patron - the obscurest part of an unused and well-aged record collection! This present made them record their first mix together and brought them under the radar of @Cobeia from Ecoutes au Vert. --> www.soundcloud.com/hendrik_stein/postcards_with_skism

A year later and here is a second exquisite mix by the pair! 🔥

@Skism is a music lover & record collector (also known as the Wasn-part of DJ duo @wasnundwunderwaffel) who loves music so much that he sometimes has a hard time just working. He believes that there’s no bad genre and no bad instrument, just bad music.
 
@Hendrik_Stein is equally deep into music, if not more. A DJ and record collector who's been around for a long time, playing in many places and running with @Menqui and @kryptic_dj, the Past Forward broadcast on Cashmere Radio. With his partner in music & life @frinda_di_lanco, they craft the Ciao Amore Baci Parties and @avec_plaisir_records label. 

In 2023, Stein crafted mixes for the H.A.N.D. series by @sound-metaphors, @eclectics28 in the UK, and the long-running @the-dream-chimney. 

With Avec Plaisir Records, he founded a platform to release hand-picked rarities, working with the likes of cosmic legend DJ Stefan Egger as well as digging private press record releases from the 1970s to 90s.

It's certainly been a very strange and unpleasant year, finishing on an extremely sour note. However, some very, very wonderful and beautiful music has been released despite this, helping elevate one's spirit above the noise and dismal situation our planet is facing.

I didn't celebrate new year (a pint with my pal was it)...but earlier in the evening I made myself record this 2.5 hour mix of some of my favourite ambient and downtempo music of the year.

It includes Saeko Killy, Ramzi, XIII, Michal Turtle, Alek Lee, Quade, Pieter Kock, Secret Circuit, Erik Wollo, Ssiege, Jon Keliehor & Signy Jakobsdottir, Greville & The Lonely Voices, Finis Africae, Khidja, Froid Dub, Sign Libra, Habitat Ensemble, Simplists, The Black Frame, Kane Ikin, MD Pallavi & Andi Otto, Claire Rousay, Deep Nalstrom, Juna, Severin Black, Peter Power, Shakali and maybe a few others.

The Kurkkio Festival is a yearly gathering way up north in Swedish Lappland. Arranged in true DIY spirit with stages in a barn and an old storage building used for drying birch. It gathers the best DJs from Sweden and abroad for a weekend every summer. The recording is from the opening set of the festival on a beautiful afternoon.
