"Solvitur Ambulando (Spring version)" is a new piano based single from Matt Mereport (out now !). The piece is named after the Latin phrase “Solvitur Ambulando”, meaning "it is solved by walking". 

It was influenced by the mental relief a walk (urban, countryside or otherwise) can create in these hectic, stressful and anxious times we’re in. 

The piece was released to coincide with this year’s Piano Day (29th March) organised by Nils Frahm. "Solvitur Ambulando (Spring version)" is included on the official Piano Day Spotify playlist, curated by Nils. It’s also available on the usual streaming and download sites.

I'm finally sharing a little piano piece I started working on two years ago. Lately my composition has drifted to piano pieces with some pockets of improvisation. These pieces are a bit more stripped back, so I've been hesitant to share them. Nevertheless, in the spirit of the title, here it is.

This piece started as a collection of possible improv patterns mostly riffing on ideas from my mentor, Michael Harrison.

Played on Pianoteq using 5-limit Just Intonation.

Tabla is from India by Native Instruments.
