enter in the silence of the woods
deepest night
you’re stumbling in darkness as you’re
only trying to find a light
suddenly a symphony erupts overhead
greens and pinks of hues of red and all you can think about it me instead 

i’m the ghost that you never thought you’d carry
along the way
and you know that i changed you 
even a little bit
in one single day
a chance encounter that you thought 
would lead to something more
fate, it would seem, would have other things
other plans in store

you ran away
to the hiding place
a place written in the stories
where you’re trying to escape reality

you ran away
trying to find some reprieve 
give it all away 
you give yourself away
to me
to me 

you said you weren’t ready and
you did everything you could do to 
push me away
you didn’t think i would 
commit to the silence 
and that i would leave it this way
