Tash's Movement Recordings closes out the spring season by welcoming Matias Carafa to the label for a new EP. Hailing from Argentina, Matias Carafa has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. The Rosario resident's melodic sound would find its way onto established imprints such as 3rd Avenue, Endless, Just Movement and Massive Harmony, while earning the praise of some of the genre's top tastemakers. Movement Recordings has also been a landing spot for Matias, with his label debut coming last year in the form of a well-received three-track showcase entitled 'Mercury Rising'. With 2024 being highlighted by a project for Proton's Particles, a release co-produced with Jonatan Ramonda, Matias now makes a welcome return to Movement with 'Serenidad', alongside a remix from Kenan Savrun.

Beginning with the title selection Matias continues his progressive minded ways with a production that's equally at home on the dancefloor or a late night listening session. Full of mystical qualities, the Rosario resident smoothly blends warm kick drums and fluid grooves with soulful synth motifs and clattering percussive arrangements, resulting in an energetic yet magical vibe across the first act. Looking to bring a greater sense of emotion during the break, it's a panoramic trail of keys that gets lost in warm bass swells and percolating effects, before a slow-burning build smoothly segues into a finale that is equal parts percussive and melodic.

If your ‘Politics Of Dancing 3’ anticipation levels aren’t scraping the sky already, well this will surely put them there… In a first-time production link-up, Paul van Dyk has collaborated with trance pharaohs Aly & Fila - reteaming in the process with vocal doyen/regular muse Sue McLaren for the magnificent, astounding ‘Guardian’.

Together for the first time, three producers, long celebrated for wowing the clubbing lands with their height-of-the-night productions… Club combustion can be but bare minutes away, right!!? 

Well, yes and no… Over the late December/early January weeks, the Original Mix roared across floors, claiming the #2 spot on Beatport’s trance chart in the process. With the trio’s new Sunrise & Sunset mixes however, Paul, Aly & Fadi drop some expectation-subverting versions into ‘Guardian’s equation. Unexpected, different  - surprising even, their more recumbent tones, dovetailed to Sue’s sweetly sung vocals & bittersweet lyrics, mass to take music lovers to places they may never wish to return from!

For his mix, Goodgreef’s Jordan Suckley goes pole-to-pole delivering a rework that seismically blasts ‘Guardian’ through to the heart of 6am. Tough, on an almost cellular level, Suckley’s thunderous remap will thoroughly test the mettle of your club’s speakers! 

Last but by no means least, Pedro Del Mar & R.I.B take the track on a chilled ride to the lounge side. Linking the circle back to the Sunrise & Sunset Mixes, the pair deliver a richly produced, brilliantly structured ‘ride-home’ revision.

Grammy winner Karin Park’s latest release sees her collaborating with ‘Pandora Drive’, an outfit comprised of renowned photographer and filmmaker Thomas Knights (who achieved recent stratospheric success as the creator of the ‘Red Hot’ project appearing on The One Show and global news channels) and DJ and producer Nick Sheldon Hurricane’ , includes remixes from heavyweights Booka Shade, Maya Jane Coles and Barber.

Park is an artist and singer famed for her innate ability to captivate crowds with her live sets and leave dance floors across the globe yearning for more. This new offering is plucked from her forthcoming album ‘Apocalypse Pop’, due for release on 2nd March 2015, which will mark another chapter in her career of sonic experimentalism.

Park says, "I’ve been following Pandora Drive at very close range pretty much since it was born and I’m very excited to see it grow. Thomas is such a talented musician, photographer and director and when he teamed up with Nick Sheldon I was expecting nothing less than gold. Looks like I was right.”

Initially, the video illustrates a love story; however, ‘Hurricane’, featuring vocals from both Karin and Thomas and directed by Knights himself, is a mesmerizing depiction of a 21st century life and each individual’s constant desire for more, an underlying sense of longing throughout the hypnotic synths and evocative melody. ‘Hurricane is about never feeling satisfied,’ Knights says. ‘It’s about not getting swept up – you have to keep on going.’   
The meeting of dark decadent subject matter with electronica, hypnotic top lines from both and Knights’ skill with visuals makes for an exhilarating and dangerously alluring combination; listeners are tempted to take a bite out of the apple and enter the ‘fucked up alternative world’ they’ve created.

The release comes complete with remixes from Maya Jane Coles, Booka Shade and newcomer Barber. Maya Jane Coles provides a tantalizing interpretation, adding an extra thread of intrigue that is unmistakably hers to the track’s multi-woven fabric. German producers Booka Shade break the track down only to reconstruct it with an agility that can only be achieved after years of pioneering productions. Newcomer Barber delivers a toughened up re-work worthy of a place in the darkest clubs on the most crowded dance floors.
