Banoffee Pies Records 19th release in the Original Series lands with a very special solo EP entitled "Static" from Melbourne based Producer/DJ, Pugilist. Alex has been making incredible selections of bass infused, UK and Dub tinged music for many years. A fitting welcome on BPR as the label hits it's 8 year anniversary since its inception in 2014. The platform continues to evolve with an ever growing number of releases representing different sounds across its sublabels and many blossoming side projects alongside.

To honour the frequent mood changes and feelings of relative isolation experienced in the last 2 years, the A side aims to reconnect those lost moments with "Déjà Vu" & "Future Retro" - both tracks channelling a UK centric sound for the dancefloor and a further proof of the depth and quality found across Pugilist's back catalogue. The B side flaunts a completely parallelled sound palette with "Static", a down tempo dubby track partnered by the beautifully stylish "Sky Blue". Introduced to each other by Jon Rust, the two tracks are a result of studio sessions together as well as manipulation of Ben’s existing recordings. Both tracks explore the tonal, textural and rhythmic possibilities of Ben's playing within a focused dancefloor framework. Ben Vince will be releasing a solo LP with Where To Now? In late May, featuring collaborations with Micachu and percussionist Rupert Clervaux.

Hessle Audio welcome @laksauk to the label with three tracks of rowdy and forward-thinking dance music, following his last release on Timedance in September.

On the A-side, ‘Fire Kit’ sees the London-based producer and DJ approaching his sound from a different direction, with dancehall infused percussion offset by enveloping layers of sub-bass warmth at 95bpm. The B side jacks up the tempo with a raucous energy as the temperature drops to below freezing. Basslines rumble in ‘Belly Brocka’ and ‘T’s Tent’ like an approaching storm and snares lash through the mix like ice picks, with the broken rhythmic energy driving the dance forward in 2021 and beyond.

Running the club night and monthly NTS show ‘re:lax’ with re:ni, Laksa has been consistently pushing bass mutations since his early EPs on Beneath’s Mistry label. A Bristol bass bobbler at heart, his hybrid sound has found a home on many respected labels such as Timedance, Ilian Tape and Whities, cementing his place amongst the latest UK talent.
