Even Funkier - The Discography Lessons # 67

The Black Light Disco show motored into town again, cruising down the MyHouseRadio.fm main boulevard and blasting out feel good vibes from the onboard sound system. 

This week, our resident Esteban was rolling out the red carpet at BLD Towers for station co-owner and house music legend, Glen 'DJ Houseman' Williams. 

Both James and Glen have backed The Black Light Disco show from the moment we landed in January 2020, and their support, confidence (and friendship) has been one of the highlights of our own personal journey with the MyHouseRadio family. 

For the first hour of the show, Esteban has put together a pulsating set with a mixture of new and older tracks, feating the likes of Ken@Work, Dr Packer,  Slync & Fingerman, Boogietraxx, Chemars and Jay Vegas to name but a few.

The second hour is all about our guest, and what a set it is from the legend from St Louis, Glen ‘DJ Houseman’ Williams. 

Here’s a little bit more about Glen’s journey to running the number 1 house music station on the planet: 

Glen "DJ Houseman" Williams is co-owner of My House Radio alongside James Hall. In 1978, he started spinning records at age 18 in a small bar in St. Louis. He played in all the regional mainstream clubs and can easily adapt to almost any sound.

Glen was amongst the first to introduce St. Louis to house music in 1986. His time at The Zebra Lounge is still talked about to this day. He is responsible for launching a number of music websites including Deep Ocean Blue and Virgo Lounge, as well as one of the early online music stores in partnership with another legend of house,  Marshall Jefferson.

Music is therapy of sorts for Glen and this also includes running the My House Radio website (which he designed and maintains!)

Glen says he feels very fortunate that the site and the station took off the way it did, but to us mere mortals it comes as no surprise that it's been the #1 House Radio Station on the planet for several years running. He is, understandably quite proud of bringing  people together from all over the world who love their music - and that, ladies and gentlemen, is what it's all about.

Where Love Lives Episode 2 - DJ Paul Goodyear SanFranDisko

If there’s anyone who prompts the question “When does he find time to make that?” it’s serial editor and remixer Pete Le Freq. For more than 20 years he’s been reworking disco and funk classics as label boss of Alpaca Edits and Llama Farm Recordings, updating originals with a distinctive dance‑floor edge. His prolific remixes have been played by DJs worldwide — he’s a regular at Beatherder, made his Ring stage debut this summer alongside Utah Saints and Jaegerossa, and is a Mastermix remixer alongside Ben Liebrand, Sgt Slick and DJ S. He’s shared decks with Young Pulse, Michael Gray, Craig Charles, Dr Packer and Jo Whiley, and already has dates booked for 2026. 

Simply put:  he makes what he loves in the headphones come out the big speakers.
