I suppose one can't be surprised when you name a song "Xerothermic Recovery" when only twenty-some people choose to give it a listen.  The track, which dropped yesterday, isn't nearly as pretentious as the title might suggest--and, it isn't even one of the "out there" Interbay tracks...it is pretty solid indie rock with synths.  You might like it if you give it a listen.  Consider doing that after checking out today's track.

I don't know if I've mellowed in my old age, but I find it difficult to push myself too hard, sound design wise.  There's always a pop sheen that keeps what I'm doing now from going too dark or too aggressive.  

I cwertainly have both of those things still in me...so I'd resolved to make THIS track the one where I crank up the distortion on the kick drums and produce some seriously dark, hardstyle, industrial, nightmare music.  

...sadly, I didn't quite get there.  I ended up taking the distortion off the kick drums, there's not a lot of industrial in this...but I think what's being revealed today is one of my better EBM-influenced tracks.  

I definitely had Front 242 in mind when making this--though, I will certainly agree that it doesn't sound much like Front 242 at all.  

Front 242 would use the synth patches I did, they wouldn't allow their melodies to stretch up as high as I did, they wouldn't wimp out of going truly dark...as I did.  

The lyrics, I think are pointed and strong...so, of course I drowned them all in effects and put them fairly low in the mix.    

Is it fear or hate that causes people to shun people different to them?  Iin the end, does it matter?  It is still the wrong path to take on a planet filled with different people.  We can't all exist in single culture ethno-states.  We have to find ways to recognize our common humanity, to learn from each other, and to delight in the ways in which we may be different...or how we are alike.  

(You can make that a political statement if you wish.  I was speaking more broadly, but if you want to tie this song's message to current events...I couldn't say you'd be wrong to do so.)  

Ummmm...by accident, did I just create the world's first "woke" EBM track?  

This was fun to put together--while certain parts are simple, there's a lot more going on than you might guess on first listen.  But, if you listen to it at all...you have my gratitude.  (And if you go beyond that and give it a like, or repost it, or share it, or add it to your playlist, or comment on it...I will be beyond my capabilities to thank you.)  

...and, after all that, it seems greedy to ask you to follow.  But I hope you do!  More stuff is always on the way...and lots of stuff discover in the back catalog, too (including yesterday's track, "Xerothermic Recovery.")
