I was partying at a friend when someone put this song on youtube. I was deeply in love with that track when it came out 7 years ago. As i forgot about it, I was so happy to discover it again,
But I thought something was missing on it to still be relevant today. It is what i tried to do here. Hope you'll enjoy.

Ahead of a couple of sets at Spirit of Eden Toby has kindly made us a mix which is loosely an extension of his Dub & Bleeps Oddities series. It really shows the breadth of his musical knowledge and mining skills as after the last 2 we were thinking surely you can’t have another 2 hours of unheard gems yet he delivers here in style. There are a couple of really fun oddball covers amongst some bassy deepness and a beautiful Bill Nelson track that we didn't know, to open with.  xxx

And now, a little bit of JAZ

John Zahl, also known as JAZ, is a DJ and record collector based in New York, USA, well-known for his eccentric edits and oddball mixes. We managed to connect with John after he'd arrived back in NYC after a few months spent travelling.

His mix, which was actually recorded nine years ago for Sanpo Disco on NTS Radio, features many of his all-time favourite records. He tells us these are songs that he still loves, and which remain in constant rotation. We'd like to mention a few of the tracks, starting with the lovely slo-mo/Italo disco record 'Non Ricordo, Ma Piangendo', B-side of a rare 7" by Giancarlo Aspromonte. Pit Troja's 'Der Voodoo Mann' from 1985 can only be described as German hip-hop over a Moroder-esque bass-line, wonderfully eccentric, as advertised! The late great Björn Holm's 'Tid At Stå Stilla' from his 1984 LP Bortom Gränsernas Hav, takes us into Swedish synth-pop territory. The mix features a few of JAZ's own edits, including 'Cloud Worship' which has to be one of our favourite edits of all time, just superb. This is an exceptionally well put-together mix, and despite the wide range of material, it flows perfectly and naturally, as a good eclectic mix should do.

This release features four cuts with only the dancefloor in mind, each track echoing the sexuality, style and darkness of the late night disco. Title track ‘Headrush’ melds clattering beats with ecstatic sighs and strutting synth stabs to set the pulse racing, while ‘Locker Keys For Tops’ and ‘Toiletries For Bottoms’ are sister slices of sleazy tropical house. The sassy ‘Dope As Shit’ completes the EP, and more than lives up to its title.

At the forefront of everything is the duo’s provocative sense of humour, from the knowing wink of their track names to the retro cut and paste collage of both their cover art and their masterful edits which have ensured them a permanent spot in the hearts and record boxes (and USB sticks) of today’s leading music makers.
