Nattskevor & Jeremiader is a collection of jeremiads, or musical hymns meant for the night. Noisy piano harmonies and broken synth pads compose a symphony of nostalgia, where darkness whispers its secrets and resonates with the echoes of long forgotten dreams.

The Swedish album title translates as Night Skews & Jeremiads, which was early 20th century working class street talk referring to shady individuals (Nattskevor) and mournful complaints (Jeremiader). Per found these words in the book Kungens Rosor (1944) by Moa Martinsson.

The album was made using modular synthesizers and old tape recorders. Especially important gear include: Expert Sleepers Disting Ex, Rossum Panharmonium, Monome Ansible, Ciat-Lonbarde Cocoquantus, Chase Bliss Thermae, and Nagra iii.

Aprilafton ii is a remake of a song first released on the compilation album Inter-Galactic Sonar Communications Probe Vol.1 by Nādāsana.

Epoché iii is the third (and likely not last) remake of the original Epoché.

Pseudo-Dionysius' referenced-yet-unwritten "Outlines of Divinity" is more than mere pseudographia by the pseudonymous. I think it is a pointing out instruction. If what is deemed absent, in the endless end of endless ends and endlessnesses, lends still some small semblance of a semblance of authority, of godliness, of goneness, does it not constitute then a Presence? How is it that we can feel what is not-here just as palpably as we can feel that which is here? In what is absent, just as repletely as in what is present, lies thunderously that being beyond all being, a vibrant silence echoing eternity while we clean our glasses and air fry some salmon and think golly it's hot today and how lucky.

Tape loops are a closed path, a cyclic river, a ring around a far planet. They’re similar to our memory, continuously reenacting an artefact that belongs to a precise point in time, brought back in a process of recall where that artifact slightly and slowly becomes imprecise and shifted. An unrested repetition carved into an old pavement, in a city where every generation leaves a new mark, a new incision and maintains an endless process of birth and deterioration. Sonus Ruinae’s synthesizers sounds are gently laid on that closed path, put in a locked repetition and engaged into that eternal dance.
While growing up with computer music influences, ranging from glitch to the new century Roman electronic scene, Marta De Pascalis developed her musician skills under the spell of the Italian sound labs sphere, from Gruppo di Improvvisazione to Battiato and other masters that influenced the global movement of sound designers. Her earliest Live performances already showed a special character of improvisation and structure, reduced slowly to become essence, made of synthesis and magnetic tape. Her album Sonus Ruinae is a canvas of harmonics and a sublime place where things are whole, where your first listen is engraved just like that ancient city’s pavement, and Marta endlessly writes beauty on top of it, layer after layer.
