Rhythm of the Night

This track is dedicated to the artists and organisation of the NEW18 selection (check the playlist [sc link]).

We spent a weekend in an hotel in the Ardennes for a songcamp.
After a Bullfrog workshop with Jacqnoise (which was terrific, see link to learn more about this amazing woman!), I gathered many samples that inspire me extremely.

I found an old unfinished track (feb 2022) and put some of the samples in it to make a soundscape that expresses my gratitude. It also has a sample from Sly & The Family Stone, Family Affair, love that song!

Musicians and producers are cool people. Spending 4 days with eachother at one place, full focus on music production: it gave me nothing but positive vibes and inspiration!

This track might feel like it needs visuals, it is stuffed with samples from my first in depth irl contact with a magic machine that I mostly know from VSTs. 
A new step in the world of music for me!

I woke up in the middle of the night the same day I was going to Crete. I made some stuff in a work pattern as I usually do when I create music. I bursted it and layed it out a little random and went to Crete. I listen to it a lot and got this what I call random plonk (random melody , arp) that starts at 2:43 in my head. This is the pulsing stars (Cepheids) pumping ... hopefully will you enjoy it as I do.

At my stay in Crete for a week the Cicades where "singing" this sound thats in the begining and end of the track constantly during all daylight. The sound did bounce around so much that it created such a big noice it was unbarable at times. Thank god for noice canceling head phones =D. I recorded the sound and was determined to create something with it. It became the foundation of this track. Let us get Hypnotised of the Cicadas together =D

The track was created on 4 July 2024 (initial composition in GarageBand iOS by Alex M), 13 July and 9 August 2024 (preliminary and final mix, respectively, of the initial composition in Logic Pro by Alex M) and 16 August 2024 (subsequent composition, additions, arrangements, transitions and final mix in MAGIX by Patrick/DjArtw2001). It was released here on SoundCloud on 18 August 2024 (by Alex M).

The artwork cover for the track in uses a photo taken by Alex M on 3 July 2024 that was cropped and annotated by him in Mac OS Preview on 17 August 2024 - in coordination and agreement with Patrick/DjArtw2001.
