Yes I love this wonderful improvised piece. I could well imagine that with a beautiful solo dance by a ballet dancer. Chapeau !!

I have the pleasure of sharing with you a beautiful piece composed by Enrico Russo for his granddaughter.... he asked me to play this piece and re-arrange whatever I thought would be better....I did change notes in the beginning of the piece, but left most of the middle bit nearly as it was, as I thought he had done a beautiful work.....
I hope you will enjoy listening, as much as I have playing it....

Reckless Desire - Improvised Piano Piece

For Piano Day 2023 my improvisation from tonight. I had to wait until I had the right level of concentration to say something through the music. The title " an infinite journey " is the one that we all should travel during our life , in which we run , sometimes we slow down , and we should stop to think , to deepen our knowledge of ourselves and our condition .... all we should do this! The song is dedicated to Franco Battiato, a person who has already done this type of journey and has left us an immense legacy not only artistic. Happy Piano Day everyone!

I found this composition difficult to play. It will either be well received, or sink without trace. I have no idea what will be thought of it. Which is unusual, because normally, one has some sort of an idea (whether reasonably or unreasonably held) as to whether a piece is tolerable, or not. But I really have no idea at all, in so far as this piece is concerned.

4 years ago I wrote this composition in remembrance of the dreadful event in Nice on the 14th of July....Jeff Torres has been so kind to add his own orchestration to it, and hope you will enjoy listening to it....

Victor Birkan resides in Beer Sheva, Israel. In his youth, he obtained a classical musical education in St. Peterburg, Russia. Even then, he showed an interest in piano improvisation, although his teachers did not encourage it too much. Then came a long break… Victor tried different professions – biologist, computer IT. His passion for music did not interrupted, but he only started playing regularly again around 2016, and in 2018 began posting his compositions.
After receiving positive feedbacks on social media, he focused on improvised music. He is deeply convinced that improvisation is not a privilege of jazz, it is the classical piano that finds its way to people's hearts. Victor Birkan never prepares for his recordings. Sitting down at the piano, he has no idea where to start, what will be in the middle and how he will finish. The melody will come from somewhere... He seeks to capture pure emotion and splash it onto the keyboard. Practically does not use computer effects. His listeners often write about the "magic", bewitching influence of his compositions.
Over the past year, Victor’s composition, “Between Night and Day”, has been nominated for Best Solo Piano Single by the ONE WORLD MUSIC RADIO, and some interesting compositions have been created in collaboration with Yellow Roze Records label. Victor is constantly striving to expand his audience.
