Bouquet of Roses

Verse 1
We hunt through the past in a treasure’s old lore,
Clues etched in time spark a patriot’s core.
Ben Gates seeks the truth where old riddles endure.
Aladdin soars high on a carpet’s wild flight,
A lamp’s golden glow lights his dreams in the night.
With Jasmine, he steals hearts in Agrabah’s light. 

Verse 2
Peter Pan glides where the starlight still gleams,
With Tink’s glowing spark, he chases wild dreams.
He duels Captain Hook where time fades in streams.
Pocahontas runs free where the river meets sky,
Her spirit soars high with the eagle’s proud cry.
The wind’s vibrant colors guide her heart as it flies.

We chase epic tales where our heroes take flight,
With magic and courage, they blaze through the night.
Our hearts race as one in their bold, timeless throng,
In these movie worlds, their legends live on.

Sleeping Beauty dreams in a tower of stone,
A prince cuts through thorns to claim her as his own.

Her dreams find the prince though the clock strikes her flight.

Alice falls deep where mad wonders unfold,
Cheshire’s sly grin twists the tales that are told.
She finds her own strength in this dreamland so bold.
Arthur pulls steel from a rock’s ancient might,
With Merlin’s wise words, he steps into light.
His heart builds a realm where all legends unite.

But Aladdin’s sharp wit breaks his power’s cruel chain.
The lamp saves Agrabah with its magical flame.
Ariel dives deep where the ocean waves sing,
Trades voice for her legs, chasing love’s human spring.
With friends, she wins freedom where dreams take to wing. 

Bridge
Pinocchio dreams of a heart that’s alive,
With Jiminy’s wisdom, his true soul will thrive.
Truth shapes his spirit where honest dreams strive.
Kuzco, a llama, trips through jungles with flair,
Pacha’s kind heart shows him how to truly care.
From selfish to selfless, his light starts to flare. 

Verse 7
Mowgli swings free to the jungle’s wild beat,
With Baloo’s bare joys, life’s a tropical treat.
Bagheera’s wise care finds his home in the heat.
Hercules fights with a hero’s bold might,
From mortal to god, he ascends to the light.
He saves Mount Olympus with strength burning bright. 

Verse 8
Kenai roams free where the spirits align,
With Koda, he sees through a bear’s sacred sign.
Love binds their hearts in a wild, timeless shrine.
Mulan wields her sword with a fearless, sharp mind,
Her courage and Mushu leave fears far behind.
She saves all of China with honor enshrined.  

Verse 9
Flik’s tiny courage makes small seem so grand,
With misfits, he fights to protect their small land.
His heart leads the way where brave dreams take a stand.
Jim Hawkins sails through a cosmic star-sea,
His map lights the path where bold dreams run free.
In ships made of light, his strength sets destiny.

For this challenge:
Create a “musical collage,” however you might define it, likely using the equivalent of cut and paste. 

this is what I did:
1- Took and old track provided by my friends at Ethnic Fusion Sound (an Indian Raga with classical instrumentation and voice) kept the Tanpura and Santoor.
2- Took some tracks from and old song of mine, (titled Psyche, unreleased), kept electric bass and drum beats with synthesizers (here hardware old school: Emu Proteus, Emu Vintage Keys and a Korg T3, this was before software vst synths!)
3-Added some orchestral samples from my own collection of CD and vinyl (some usual suspects: Beethoven and Sibelius and a bit of Bach)

This track is part of the Disquiet Junto 478. The assignment was to make a collage that will become part of a larger collage.

I chose 8 random audio files from my iPad Audioshare library and assembled them rhythmically in Ableton Live (shout out to Follow Actions!)

The files include my track from the Disquiet Junto 325 (Fake Book),  experimentation with the Mendeltone and Patterning iPad apps, a recording of a Make Noise O Coast and field recordings from Jordan Lake, NC, Joyce Kilmer Forest, NC, Moral March 2017, Raleigh NC, and my stepson and father-in-law singing Aphex Twin and Mary Robbins respectively in a car somewhere in Texas.

Tape Collage by The Land [disquiet0478]

My 33 1/3 series book about the Aphex Twin album <i>Selected Ambient Works Volume II</i> was published in 2014. The book was one of the top 5 bestselling titles for the calendar year, and in 2015 was ranked by Pitchfork as one of the "33 best" of the 100-plus books in the 33 1/3 series. It has subsequently been translated into Japanese (2019) and Spanish (2018)

Since 2012 I have moderated the Disquiet Junto group, which began on SoundCloud. More at disquiet.com/junto. 

I've written for Nature, Pitchfork, The Wire, Down Beat, Boing Boing, NewMusicBox, Red Bull Music Academy, Art Practical, the website of The Atlantic, and many other publications. 

I've exhibited sound art at galleries in Los Angeles (Crewest), Manhattan (apex art), and Dubai (DUTAC), and I had a audio-visual installation at the San Jose Museum of Art as part of its 45th anniversary.

And since 1996 I've run the website Disquiet.com about the intersection of sound, art, and technology.
