PLF Presents: Akasha Live @Octoberween 2022

Music and dance have always brought people together—tribes used it to tell stories, connect, and tap into something bigger then themselves. Now it’s the same energy with old traditions merging with new modern sounds.  Movement, music, meaning—it’s all vibration

Ableton is proof that we are subliminally being given extraterrestrial technology from some sort of Unicorn Aliens who communicate in sub frequencies.Ableton is what I perform and make music with.  I enjoy many plugins in my productions, and I'm blessed to have a healthy amount of instruments and fx to play with.  I bring Bass music wherever I go and I don't settle for any type of performance that doesn't mean something to me.  I Appreciate all those that support me in my journey to grow into my musical vision. Love and Respect to so much music and the artist that make it, whom  inspire me to the fullest.   Thanks

PLF is a collective of people from all walks of life, ranging from (but not limited to) fire and circus art performers, DJs, visual artists, filmmakers, dancers, musicians, poets, writers, cooks, gardeners, science minded individuals, philosophers, community organizers...and any other citizen of the world. 

Part of the Party Liberation Foundation mission is to nurture community, stimulate individuals and hold/support events based on creativity, celebration, inclusion, respect, gratitude, inspiration, positivity and progression. “I can’t trust a DJ who doesn’t dance, I would die if I couldn’t dance” Aimée Lauren says in an interview with XCLR8TR magazine. “It’s true, I can’t.”

As 1/3 of RVA’s ButterCo Aimee is the Buttahflii with cousins Joey and Elliott Burton. Formerly represented by MK2am A&R (US/EU) is not kidding when she says “shut up and dance.” 

Her signature sound is a driving beat that blends Detroit techno, NYC house, and West Coast acid into a groove designed to get you out of your head and onto the dance floor. “There has to be an element of sex in there, something raw and irreverent; non-negotiable.”

Her skills were honed primarily in DC with the Dirty Crews Fil LaTorre , John Michael and David Javate. “These dudes had the hottest sound and it didn’t hurt that Fil was the love of my life. But their sound became legendary in the DC Underground.”

The late ‘90’s brought her to NYC to work in fashion; and that is when Danny Tenaglia changed the way she played forever.

With all of her years behind the decks: making people dance  has always been priority number one. 

“I’ve always been competitive; so much of my industry is dominated by men/ actually all of this industry is/ I am just 1 woman of the maybe 2-3% of women who are still in it and we are all competing against men; it is very much just a mirror of life for women in many industries; you have to be willing to compete: at some point on some level it is just a fact: so it was only logical that I would level up and start producing”.

Which lead to the recent launch of New Lows Studios which will soon release the upcoming EP titled 
“Star Minor ; A tribute to Jesse Pruitt.”

Returning from Istanbul and Barcelona you can Catch her in RVA with The Butter Boys, Anomalis Radio, late nights with The Party Liberation Foundation at RVA Create Space, and sharing the decks at LOSO (formerly The Jungle Room) or at her monthly party HerHouse, formerly at the Hof.  With HerHouse now located at Get Tight Lounge every 2nd Thursday, all vinyl / all night.

As Aimée says, 'Having the freedom to dance is a gift. Embrace it. Music is a gift. Share it. Meet me on the dance floor. And please: shut up and dance.'
