Summer 2018

This set was a dream.   My set started at 12am, as did my birthday. 
 I played after international legend, producer and label boss, Saeed Younan, who lit up the dance with a technical and creative deep jacking and tribal set.  Working with Footwork Entertainment has been nice.  We are seeing fantastic response to shows that we are 100% creatively behind.  Bringing in house music legends to headline long shows that start early, headliner for 2 hours starting at 10pm. and bringing in a diverse offering of our local talent, for 2 room parties running 7pm till 2am.  We are seeing broad support and plan on running with it.  Big thanks to Daniel James, who brought me on as partner in his project.  Thank you for your efforts and your trust.  But the people I really need to thank are the ones on the dance floor.   Your quest for release is what drives me.  Let's get higher together.  Elevate our minds, bodies and soul.

I exceedingly grateful right now, to have 4 great weekly residencies.  Being able to play different vibes at each of them is a pleasure and Fiamo is the anchor. Sunday at Fiamo has regained its position as Victoria's Industry Party. 
 Djing right on the bar, and playing from chill downtempo and soul, through hip hop, funk, breaks, all kinds of electronica, playing classics from all eras, trying to work in as many rarities and edits as I can- into more dance oriented things, like boogie, amapiano, moombahton and house, breaks, bass tings.  It's a good time.  Here's a little taste.

Lizard King Lounge #1 Fiamo 09.03.2023

Next in up in my weekly mix series is this little slice of house music from my Wednesday residency at The Mint Victoria:  DJ Primitive's Hump Day Heaters.  I nabbed this hour of house music and its one of my favourite improvised house mixes to date.  Reminiscent of some of my housier Veneto sets from my weekend residency there circa 2010- 2019- except the music is generally more modern.  Dig in!  hope you likey.

Well friends, here we are at #3.  Im extremely thankful and humbled to have the opportunities I have currently, and the freedom and support to take the vibe were I feel is right.  This 90 min snippet is from the Fathom patio.  Its a regal setting, and I feel like I did it justice here.  Sun drenched late summer into fall vibes.  Hope you like it!

Keeping these rolling!  This is the last 45 minutes of a raucous post Rifflandia Sunday at Fiamo.  The place was packed.  Tables and chairs were being danced on.  Sundays at Fiamo are back- we've been fighting since the re open, and its amazing to be seeing the support.  And having a beautiful crowd to play to let's me play dope music.  Enjoy!

Playing music on New Years Day is always one of my favourite sets of the year.  We've all put the old year to bed and come together to share in the coming years rich potential.  Over time, I've found that the sets that resonate are the ones that riff on classics, are rich with soul, that are just all the way down funky.  Comfort music.  Feel good music.  
 Accessible, but done right, hits for the heads as well.  I nabbed this recording from a set that I did not think was going to happen.  2020 was a rough year.  I hadn't performed since August as pandemic lockdowns had curtailed 99% of live music.  So I really wanted to catch the feels right.  Glad I captured this.  Hope you enjoy. There’s nothing ancient about Primitive’s sound or technique.  Pushing the DJ and rave lifestyle in the Pacific Northwest since 2000, supporting the music community by creating a slew of residencies, coordinating gigs for other DJs, promoting shows and developing the community through platforms like Party People Sound Solutions, Primitive Hustle, and PK Sound Victoria.  Strengthened through many collaborations, creating connections and culture; trailing a wake of blissed out revellers. All Primitive ever wanted was to rock a party and he is guaranteed to create a sweaty mess on the dance floor.
