Disquiet Junto 0686 asked us to "consider how the process of breathing in and out slowly can lend shape to a piece of music."

I initially conceived of this response as a calm and meditative little piece-- but something happened and I lost control of it along the way. it turned into something that feels to me brutally honest and almost autobiographical. I don't know.

Mechanically: all of the synth pads are from a vintage Korg M3R, chosen because the Korg AI Synthesis engine produced such amazingly breathy sounds. Even the little ride cymbal is from the M3R. On top of these pads are two guitars: an electric played with ebow, and a slide steel. Nothing is looped, although there are some incidental noises that repeat from time to time. Each instrument and layer was recorded live and the first take was used without editing the performance. The vocals are organic.
