Broadcasting in 25 countries or regions, NRJ is the world’s most-franchised brand for Contemporary Hit Radio stations. Shaping their sound since 2008, PURE Jingles recently delivered part 2 of the ‘22 chapter in the NRJ story.

Over the years, radio’s position has been changing gradually, brand manager Gaël Sanquer says in this interview. “The value of a station was, more or less, the music. Today, it’s everything but the music. Our listeners have the music for free, everyday; everywhere. So we have to be creative in the branding, content, entertainment and events. And offer listeners what they’re not able to find on streaming services.”


The right mix

Creating and maintaining brand awareness is something he finds to be essential: “The branding and the on-air marketing is something very important for NRJ”. Every day, he’s diligently working on crafting the ultimate listening experience. On the right mix of scheduled music and accompanying imaging elements, such as power intros, format explainers and jingles. “To have something relevant, creative and unique.”

The station’s most recent imaging update consists of another 10 custom-made jingles that match the sound of today’s playlist. It can be heard all across France as well as on many stations abroad, which include major markets such as Germany and various Scandinavian countries. One of Poland’s most-established radio stations has commissioned PURE Jingles to shape their new audio branding. A modern AC jingle package with the slogan embedded in the logo melody.

Reaching close to 5 million listeners, Radio ZET is currently the #2 rated station. A source of both entertainment and inspiration for an adult audience, it offers a variety of music with news reports as a benchmark. Their website is among the country's 25 most-visited ones with close to 10 million users generating 50 million visits.

“Radio ZET was looking to create a better program flow, and a more contemporary image. We were also aiming to easily match the jingles to the songs we play”, says production director Maciej Wrzesiński. Instead of ordering a custom package, the station opted for a highly-customised re-sing package from the PURE JingleBox.

“From the very beginning, we knew that the cooperation would be great. From jingle selection to final mastering, it went professionally from A to Z. We could really sense that PURE Jingles is in touch with radio and has in-depth knowledge of formats, also of our specific approach. They’re hyper focused on customer needs.”

Chérie FM is a family station, centered around a target demo of women 25-49. In recent years, it has evolved from a Soft AC oriented format to something close to Hot AC. To update & upgrade their sound, directeur d’antenne Yoann Boulanger-Coureau came to PURE with a focused mission: smooth, but quick transition jingles.


“Segues between titles from various decades must be fluid, and create a fast return to the music. All while adding a breath of fresh air and dynamics to the program. NRJ France and its worldwide affiliates have received this year’s first load of jingles, inspired by recent hit music and including a fresh summer breeze!
