I buried hope in softened dirt
and watered it with all my hurt.
Petals bloomed where silence slept
each one fed on what I wept. (Fed on me…)

The vines grew fast, they knew my name,
wrapped around my guilt and shame.
I kissed the thorns to feel alive,
but they dug down and learned to thrive.
(They never let go…)

My hands were cracked, but still I sowed,
with broken bones I shaped the rows.
A garden made of breath and bone,
but every root was not my own.

The seeds were sweet, but turned to teeth,
gnashing just beneath the wreath. (Chew)
The flowers sang when no one came
a lullaby of dirt and flame.
(Burn with me…)

So bloom from me, this husk, this clay,
make beauty out my slow decay.

but roots remember every song.

but now the dark is growing in. (It spreads…)
My chest split wide to birth a rose,
it screamed in red, but no one knows.

The worms don’t judge, they only take. (Take…)
They curl around each past mistake.
And even death must learn to eat,
so chew the guilt between my teeth.

She tucked a daisy in my throat,
and called it peace, and watched me float.
My ribs a bed, my breath a breeze…
I sleep where all things bend their knees.

I didn’t crawl from the dark
I settled in it.
Felt it breathe
In the back of my throat.

You never fell, you just remembered gravity.

Like dust landing on a wound.

I buried my name
Before I learned how to wear it.
And the soil wore me
Better than the silence ever did.

Carried the world like a duffel of pasts.

Taught in the alleys, not halls or steeples,
Broke no laws, but he bent all the evils.
Didn’t pitch faith, just pitched in with people,
Flipped tables and fates like sequels to prequels.

Got blood on his breath but he never rep’d gangs,
Still, they marked him out like a threat to their reign.
Told him walk off, but he stayed in the flames,
Turned the gallows to gallant with nothing but pain.
